Amazing!
This was exactly what I have been looking for. This mattress protector fully encompasses our 18" thick mattress AND an additional 4" memory foam topper. It does not get hot and does not make a crinkly rustling sound at all. I'm not sure how truly water repellant it is, but our primary use for it is to reduce allergens that having an open mattress can cause. And this

There's No Price So High That Peace of Mind Isn't Worth it! Buy This!
This product actually works! Obviously, you have to implement it with other solutions; it isn't a stand-alone magic bullet. But it does exactly what it's advertised to do, and it does it well. I found the installation initially a bit confusing; there's a label at each end that references that the end is where you should put the foot of your mattress. Most people are smart enough to realize that either end could be at the foot of the mattress, and that the label is there to keep you from attempting a sideways installation. It took me a minute to figure that out, so blame that on operator stupidity and maybe the horror of everything else I was experiencing that had nothing to do with the cover itself. Also, I wasn't entirely certain as to the purpose of the cable ties that accompany the cover. Obviously, they're for the zipper to ensure that it remains firmly locked in place, and you definitely want that. But this is a five-star product as far as I'm concerned. It arrived in excellent shape; it seems durable to me. KEEP YOUR RECEIPT! You'll need it to register the cover with the manufacturer in order to qualify for the warranty. Fortunately, I've not had to file a claim. This won't make you sweat more when you sleep with it on your mattress. I was afraid it might, but it works well. It doesn't add any noise to your sleeping experience. the material is thin and pliant, but it works as advertised.

It is working out well.
We had some difficulty in getting it on the mattress, and the zipper came undone, the first time we tried to zip it, but, it was easy to fix, and has worked out quite well. I was worried that it would make the bed too hot, but that hasn't been the case.

Different/Generic Packaging
I'm used to buying this Protect-A-Bed brand of mattress encasement and am used to the older style of packaging--and there is. a photo of newer(?) packaging presented with this product listing here. However, this arrived in a clear plastic bag with a simple smaller card that lists installation and washing instructions--no mention of the warranty as in past versions. The website "fpghospitality.com" is printed on the card but doesn't work (internet says website not found.) There are several places in the stitching that are loose and I would return but it was needed right away for a person with allergies. I will say that I will not be purchasing this item any longer due to the weird generic packaging, lack of warranty info and company info--is it really the Protect-A-Bed brand? Has it been repackaged? Is it a factory second? Too expensive to get a second.

Completely waterproof, protects your investment
I bought another mattress protector previously (SafeRest Premium Hypoallergenic Waterproof Mattress Protector - Vinyl Free) because it was cheap and has over 5000 reviews, with 4.5-star average rating. I wish I had just got this one instead in the first place! This mattress protector keeps the bed so much cooler than terry cloth protectors. I found myself constantly sweating at night with the previous one I bought. This one is made of a really cool material. This also works extremely well in terms of protecting your bed from stains, dust, and bugs. I spent a good chunk of change on my king size bed, so this was well worth the investment for me. I had a bunch of different stains on the protector and was worried when I removed it when I moved that I'd see stains all over my bed, but the mattress looked brand new!

Great Product for those with dogs!
I have 3 dogs. Our biggest being 80 pounds and are smallest being 20 pounds. They love to sleep on our bed with us every night. I was buying a new cover every 3 months because our 80-pound dog often ripped through the mattress cover by either trying to get a grip to get up on the bed or by simply moving around. Keeping her nails trimmed did nothing to help save the mattress covers. I have had this one since 8/3/2016 and its now 12/1/2016 and she has been unable to tear a hole in it yet! We have had every accident possible and nothing has gotten through this cover. Great Mattress cover!

This item has a bad plastic smell and the zipper track is not made well.
This item smells so bad like plastic, I thought it might wear off after a while but it never dissipated. I took it off to give it a wash so it could smell less and that's when the zipper broke. I replaced it with a $25 dollar Sealy cover from BJs that is 100 percent better. Don't be fooled by wirecutter reviews, this product is inferior and overpriced and the company when contacted will just tell you to ask amazon for a refund. Then amazon will tell you to ask the company for a refund, needless to say I did not receive a refund and was out of pocket. I'd give it a zero star review if possible. Dissatisfied.

Ordered two, LOVE the 1st one, returned the 2nd one
I would give the first one I ordered 5 stars and the second one 1 stars so averaged them and gave 3 stars. After reading Wirecutter article I purchased this and love it. I don't notice any sounds or smells as some reviewers mentioned. And I am very particular about both. I then purchased another one for the guest room. Both came from the same seller (Shop Right!) but the first one was in the manufactures box and the plastic bag inside was wrapped with a ribbon (of sorts). But the second one was not in a box and the plastic bag was very dirty on the outside and I saw some dirt on the inside (see photo). In addition, the label is bent and looks used (see photo). So, I returned it. When asked about the differences in the two orders Shop Right! responded "We are sorry to hear about the inconvenience. Unfortunately, mistakes can happen and we are going to research this. Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention." I'm glad they are looking into it but wish they would have had a better explanation and/or would have offered to make this right by guaranteeing that they could send me a new one in the box. FYI, the 2nd order was $82.48 (vs. $89.99 for the 1st one). The 2nd one might have been a returned item. But they should have identified it as that instead of saying "New".
