Dorman 03006 Brake Cable Adjuster - Universal Fit

Emergency brake cable is stretched in our old chevy van and this kept us from having to buy a whole new cable assembly!

A little flimsy but gets the job done if you don't modify them. If you need more adjustment, just add another one, don't add washers, etc. to make one over do it. That's what all the bad reviews did and then they wonder why it bent.

He's funny is it every auto parts store looked around could not find one had to order it took the slack out of the cables on my vanI'll probably order more just to keep them cuz I can't find

Nut threads stripped. It seems this is mostly for a slack cable that needs to be tightened- not for shortening a cable already under tension. TIP: use wide-mouth channel lock pliers to compress the hook and cable instead of relying on the nut alone! Used on 2010 Expedition.

This Dorman Help! brake cable tension adjuster is an example of a complete engineering and manufacturing failure by design. The thin, soft Chinese stamped steel is so flimsy it twisted in my hands without even trying. The J-bolt is also of poor quality. There is no way this clamp can do what it is claimed to because it simply does not have the strength. Dorman should rethink putting their name on this. I remember these cable adjusters from many years ago and this is nothing like they were back then. It is useless.

Great gadget for any in line tightening - Boats, car brake cable, garden fence wire ...and fence wire tightening. Surprised its not a hardware store item. Simple to use. Got to remember to squirt oil on it every year or 2 as they tend to rust...but still seem to operate ok. Wish they had them in heavier sizes for large ropes and cables.

It seems to do the job it is intended for. Easy to install.

Failed state inspection. Used this to adjust line on a f450 to pass.
