Great For Helping With Medication Application
I purchased this to help put a muscle pain medication on my back that my doctor prescribed for me. Most of the time, I have someone who can help me in the evenings, but if I need pain relief from this prescription during the day, I had no way to apply it myself. It's hard to reach all the parts of your back alone, no matter how flexible you are, but when you're having back problems, it's even harder! I was skeptical that it would help or i"d be able to use it well enough to get any real relief from the back pain medication, but it does work! In fact, not only does it work well on the back, but it's not a bad applicator for using on other parts of the body that I can reach, but where I don't want to get the ointment or cream or rub or prescription drug on my hands while applying it. I put the medication on the pad, reach it over my shoulder to get my upper back and then apply more and put it behind my waist for the middle to lower back. While I can't get the pressure that I could if someone were rubbing it on with their hands, most medications and topical creams or lotions don't really require it to be rubbed in deeply--you just have to get it enough on the surface so it absorbs. So when I'm done, instead of washing it out--since I'm the only one who uses this--I just pop the applicator head back into the plastic baggy and close it up. That way, I'm not wasting any medication, the head stays saturated, and it's easier to apply the next time. If there is any excess that got on the handle, it's a nice, slick wooden handle, so I just wipe it off with a cloth and it's good to go. The head is soft but pliable, slightly absorbent, but not enough to suck up all your lotion or medication. It's soft, but also firm and it doesn't have any rough edges or seams that you can feel, so no scratches or pricks while trying to use it. The handle is wooden, and solid. It feels strong and of good quality. I'd definitely recommend this applicator if you're in a position like me to need it for medication application--or even if you just can't quite twist or turn to apply lotion or sun cream or anything else you need to get on your backside of your body. It's also good for elderly folks or people with mobility and chronic pain issues to help apply lotions and other topical things to the extremities without as much physical effort. I highly recommend this product and for the price, you can't beat the difference it's made in my pain levels and self-sufficiency.

Trickier to use than a guy would have thought...!
Seems simple enough, apply product to pad, rub across skin... yeah, have you ever tried rubbing backwards, behind yourself, with a mirror in your other hand?! I'm sure it was comical to watch the first time I used this as I was repeatedly outwitted by a sponge on a stick! I purchased the Aquasentials Easy Lotion Applicator to apply sun block to my back. When it arrived this nifty product looked like something you'd see hanging on a rack at Bed Bath & Beyond. Its display packaging, a heavy zip style bag, was unexpected and a nice touch, allowing you to cover the pad when needed (or for anything else you may need a small, heavy zip bag for). The pad itself is soft to the touch (like suede) and textured, but is a very firm closed cell foam. Pushing as hard as I could I was only able to compress it a slight amount. I was happy to see it has more than enough strength to maintain its shape during use. Thankfully as well, the pad doesn't have any offensive odor (as manufactured foams sometimes do). I could barely smell anything even with it held up to my nose. The handle of the applicator is a pretty light pine color and is curved to make placing the pad flat on your back easier. Being a wooden handle it also feels better in your hand than plastic handles and is less likely to twist and break as well. It also features a bit of rope tied through a hole in the handle should you desire to hang it, but the hole isn't very smooth so the rope hangs up a bit rather than sliding cleanly, admittedly a minor detail though. While the applicator was surprisingly more of a challenge to use than I expected it definitely reaches every part of your back with ease. Just keeping the pad at the proper angle to spread the lotion will take some practice. The pad itself feels soft on your skin though and while it may take a bit longer than applying lotion with your hands, it does great job of working the lotion in and evening everything out! Cleaning the pad after use was the easiest part. A bit of liquid hand soap and water, some rubbing and a rinse... a few minutes and you're done! Attempting to clean it with water alone did not work. Even though the closed cell foam doesn't allow the lotion to absorb into the sponge very far, it still needed soap to break down the lotion and allow it to be rinsed off. Once dry (couple hours) no residue from the lotion could be felt. The product tag says to replace every three months, but I suspect it should last considerably longer. Overall I really liked this lotion applicator. It's a great product at a reasonable price... I'd say the Aquasentials Easy Lotion Applicator deserves its five start rating!

Gets the job done!
Single and can't lotion my back by myself, this gets it done! Have used it everyday since I pulled it out of the package. Does a great job for what it was made to do. I think it could be about an inch or two longer and maybe just a bit more of an angle for the back. I'm tall and skinny so I can reach everywhere on my back fairly easy but it gets a little akward at times. The product works great as far as delivering lotion the the areas of the back that you can't reach. It does not seem to be very absorbant, which is great because you want the lotion on your back and not left on the applicator. It delivers all of the lotion to your back, so there really is no cleaning up. But if you do need to wipe it off, it's very easy and done in one swipe.

Get rid of that persistent itch in the middle of the back!
This is one of the best products that I have purchased on Amazon! I have a spot on my back that is impossible to reach when I lotion my body. That spot has itched for years driving me crazy even in the middle of the night. I bought a shower brush to reach my back for cleansing and I found this item to help with applying lotion. My back no longer itches! I read how some people are complaining about the pad being hard but that is what makes it great. If it was soft it would absorb the lotion causing you to have to use more. The lotion clings to the pad and applying it to the back is pretty easy.

Love It!
I hate winter for lots of reasons, but one of the biggest ones is that my skin gets so dry and tight and itchy. Being a single woman who lives alone, it's difficult to moisturize the skin on my back and well, unfortunately, I can't afford massages on a daily basis! So some sort of assist device to help apply lotion to the back is an enormous help. I previously had a back lotion applicator that had marble-sized beads on the surface. You were supposed to put lotion in the chamber behind the beads. The layer with the beads screwed on top of that. Gravity was supposed to allow the lotion to flow around the beads. Great idea in theory. Worked well for a while, but the lotion got gunked up and dried out and the beads wouldn't work right. So I washed everything out. But then the beads didn't fit in their holes any more and started falling out whenever I used the thing. Too, toooo frustrating! This applicator is perfect! They call it a "sponge," but it isn't really. It doesn't really soak up liquid very well, making it the perfect applicator for viscous materials. My back is feeling so much better. Update on August 5, 2021: It's now been about 2 and a half years since I wrote this review. I remember that the manufacturer said you should replace this every 3 months. POPPYCOCK! There is absolutely NO NEED to do that. I still use the one I originally purchased 2.5 to 3 years ago on an almost daily basis and it's still in perfect shape.

Worked very well, but not the best.
I purchased both this Aquasentials applicator and the one by Kingsley Lotion Applicator On Wood Handle - both of which are listed as "Prime" and very similarly priced. I actually bought the Aquasentials first, but because of a shipping delay, decided to also buy the Kingsley 5 days later, and the Kingsley arrived first/on time (the Aquasentials took 11 days to arrive). Both applicators are very similar, but there are some distinct differences. Similarities include: Made from a very firm closed cell foam (so lotions are not absorbed into the applicator) - both washed up easily with no lotion-feeling residue. Wooden Handle Rope Hanger Plastic storage cover The differences: The head on the Aquasentials has a ridged edge (can easily be seen in my pictures). The head on the Kingsley is a smooth oval - which I preferred for both sensation and usability (no creases for the lotion to collect in and be unusable) The head on the Kingsley is slightly smaller, but because it is smooth (without the edge), I think the usable surface is about the same. The foam of the Aquasentials is slightly firmer/denser but also thinner (I didn't find that this made any difference, but mentioning it for clarity). The overall length on the Kingsley is longer by about 1" - but the Aquasentials has a bit more curve. I preferred the longer length of the Kingsley, but depending on your reach/flexibility/build, you might prefer more curve. Overall, even though both worked as described, if I were to only purchase one of these, the Kingsley would be my definite choice.

Easy to use.
LIFE SAVER! My arm is messed up and I can’t reach my back. It’s so dry in the Midwest this time of year. Easy to use, easy to clean. I love this product !

Finally able to moisturize my back
No absorption means all lotion makes it to the places you want it to go.
