Easy to use. Gets a great sear on sous vide steak.
I own both this and the Bernzomatic 8000, and I'm quite liking the Iwatani for kitchen use. The Bernzomatic uses propane as fuel so that it burns hotter, but I found it kinda inconvenient because of its tall size and weight. This Iwatani CKGR gets decent heat out of butane and still works well for searing meat. It takes some time to get a good sear on sous vide steak, but it does so without setting off my apartment's fire alarm, which is what I really needed. I like how easy it is to put this on a can of butane too, easier than dealing with the screw-on propane tanks. When picking between the CKGR and the PRO2 model, I went with the CKGR because I like that it stops the gas flow when releasing the trigger. Safer in case of accidentally dropping the torch. The PRO2 has adjustable gas flow; the CKGR does not. The CKGR only lets you adjust how pointed the flame is. This is made in Japan from an experienced company. Would recommend this over the cheaper options for peace of mind.

Great Product
Great product! Strong but also easy controllable flame with safety lock. The trigger is very comfortable to hold and the holder base is very stable. I have used for my sushi, poki bowl and roasted pork elbow for many times

Would be 5 stars with a less sloppy flame adjuster
One of the best torches on the market even with the minor issue I've had. I'm not sure if it's just the one I received or if it's typical of this torch, but the flame adjuster could use some sort of tensioning device. It's quite loose and prone to changing each time it's picked up. Other than that it feels good in the hand, lights every time, and produces a nice uniform flame.

Great torch
I only got this cuz I was looking at the cheap China made torches and someone posted a review mentioning iwatani. I figured why not and this thing rocks. Itโs so much better than my small torch I had before and also my propane torch gun. For some reason it just gives a cleaner taste. Only thing is thereโs no smaller setting so itโs a strong flame but it works and is fast.

Not sure if this is normal.
I donโt know if this is normal. You will get into scenarios that you need to burn it in an upside down position. It takes a while to shut off after I release the trigger and right now Iโm not sure if itโs 100% sealed.

Great purchase!
This was inexpensive and great for seasoning our wok! The butane lasts just about forever. We also used it to change the fixture on our tub faucet because the heat helped release some corrosion!

Big flame- works great
I had the old Iwatani and this one is much better - big hot flame that can be spread or pointed depending on the need. Also more comfortable to hold the trigger on than the kind with a front trigger

Good basic Butane Torch
This is a nice little Butane Torch for cooking. We like using it to sear Salmon for sushi, and for Creme Brulee. It's easy enough to use, but I wish there was an adjustment for how strong the flame is (instead of just moving it further away from the food). The box and included instructions are in English and written for the US Market but there are Japanese touches, like informing you that the product is rated (only?) for 3000 butane canister installs and 6000 ignitions. I guess everything has a limited lifespan but 6000 is not much if used a few times a day consistently (more than we'd be using it of course).

Amazing product
Feels very sturdy compared to other torches, I've had so many they just keep breaking. The added stand helps a lot with weight distribution and it doesn't randomly fall over when the butane is low.
