There is a very small learning curve using this device. You have to be careful with mute and HDMI. If the source HDMI is muted, often the receiver is also muted. Also, on the device there is speaker volume and recording volume. You can mute the speaker, but if you turn the other volume down, it will not record sound. I had no problems plugging in a standard external hard disk drive. You do not need to use a solid state drive or a similar faster drive. I find it annoying that a device this expensive did not come with batteries for the remote or the unit settings. Unless you like resetting the time and date, plan on purchasing a CR 2025 battery. The included tripod is not great, but it does keep the vents on the back of the screen clear. Do not lay the screen flat or it will overheat which can shorten the life of the display. The included software is basic. but provides most features an end user needs The clip tool works pretty well, but it works by the second. If you are concerned about garble, this may not be your best solution. The software that pieces the recordings together is very fast and efficient. The file sizes are huge. 1920 x 1080 60fps works out to about 4GB per hour. This is nice for 80 inch screens, but overkill for a phone or tablet. Depending on what the final use of the project, there is no included software to prepare the final file. I recommend handbrake, which is free. With handbrake, you can reformat your file to fit the screen you are watching it on while also reducing frame rate and file size. I have no plans to copy protected material so I'm taking Cloner Alliance's word that this will not copy DRM or HDCP.

This recorder has been able to record video from my FLIR thermal unit, my bore-scope, my old VGA Windows XP computer, my SONY HD video camera, my ROKU, and my home desk top computer. It can also extract still images from a video. It came in a small soft case, but I now keep it in a custom water proof hard case. I like this recorder very much. However, it does have a few issues. First, you can't change the volume during the play back of a video. Second, it is a bit slow changing modes. Third, I have only been able to play back video that the unit recorded. Video's not recorded on the recorder is not recognized or displayed on the menu. Also, batteries left attached to the back of the unit will drain, even when the recorder is off. So unplug the battery when not in use. I purchased the batteries separately. The recorder comes with a wall plug power adapter. So no batteries are needed, except the button battery to keep the date / time memory current.

I Highly recommend asking Cloner, what if any Warranty, is offered and for how long before purchasing. Worked Great with a Few Glitches. Then the USB Input Receptacle came unsoldered. Contacted Cloner and Amazon with Mixed Promises, Amazon said, We Will Handle IT. TO then be told I, Have to Call Cloner and Be Told I'm Using an Unsupported Thump Drive, that's why I Can't Record or Play Back!!? That's not addressing the issue or a solution! Be Prepared to Purchase Insurance. You won't find any Warranty Info on Their Site! I WAS TOLD BY AMAZON A WEEK AGO, I'D BE CONTACTED WITHIN 24 HOURS! NOTHING BUT "HOW DID WE DO IN HANDLING YOUR REQUEST?" ARE YOU SATISFIED??

Easy to use. Copied all of my old VHS home vids to digital. Did it in the privacy of my home so people I don’t know were not viewing my private family moments. Also they charge far too much. The quality of my digital copies is great! Also now I can copy anything I wish from anything I choose to digital! So I really loved the Price and functionality of this device! It was worth the money I spent just for transferring my family videos from the 80s and 90s and 2000s.

What a great product this is. I’ve owned multiple Cloner Alliance products as well as other capture devices from other companies. Cloner Alliance is the best. This thing will record from ANY device that has HDMI. It’s simple to use. Any questions I’ve had have been answered quickly and in a manner I could understand. I had trouble with the remote starting the recording process but easily figured that out. Had some trouble installing the back up batter but Cloner Alliance sent a simple video to me and shoed me how to easily install it. Ive been converted some old DVD’s that I recorded to digital. Had no problems. Recorded from Firestick. No problems. When the file was too big and the View Pro split the file the FREE Cloner Alliance software easily combined the files in no time. Get this device. You won’t be disappointed. Oh yeah…the screen makes it easy to not tie up your TV while converting. Great device.

The recording aspect works very well for my needs, the bad side is, it locks up and is very difficult to play back any videos that you did not record in the unit itself. This what the people at cloner alliance told me when I emailed them. I was pretty miffed that I can simply take a small mp4 1280 video, put it on a USB memory stick or SD Card and play it back! If you have several, I get video errors and the unit just freezes up. So essentially the playback for this unit is useless unless I record in the unit it self. Still working on this and will try to reformat both storage formats to figure a solution. But for the price this is something that really shouldn’t be.

The unit does a very good job recording. BUT it completely locks up during most recordings requiring it to be unplugged from power and then restarted. The couple of recordings that actually worked looked great. I probably just got a defective unit. I'm returning it.

excellent, works properly

For the past month, I have used about 80% of all its features, have confirmed that it worked as described. It took me some time to decide upon this unit and the one with only the 3" screen. The 7" screen is good for taking it with you, but the external Battery is not included, have to buy it on my own. It came with the license for three software packages, the one I found most helpful is the, "Cloneralliance Helper" allowing full access to the ViewPro, without having to access the unit, just plug into a USB2 port on the PC, works well on Windows10. Video Capture can be stored on the PC hard drive, MAX file sizes less then 16G. It is unfortunate that the PC does not have any access to the SDCARD placed in the ViewPRO, also files can not be transferred to the SDCARD, to transfer files to the SDCARD, one must remove the SDCARD from the unit, then plug that into the PC. The remote control can be used for capturing video, but only to the SDCARD in the ViewPRO. The remote have full access without having to press any buttons on the unit. It will upscale all captured resolutions to 1080P without the image appearing being stretch, to be display on the ViewPRO or connected to an external 1080P monitor, However, when an external monitor is connected, the image on the ViewPRO is blacken. One inconvience is having to plug in the SDCARD/USB stick and audio in/out from the bottom, maybe that is the reason, why a stand is provided for the ViewPRO for easy access. I believed that i have made a good purchase, it really does capture everything that I need it to, therefore, I will recommend.

Solid device. Does what is supposed to do. It grabbs video input. Never needed more that that. Easy setup. Despite big screen you get decent recording and screen time. Maybe my review is biased but I had it for 2 months and it has not died on me - my heart is overjoyed - this is in stark contrast to other 4 devices from this category that I tried before and that all mysteriously died suddenly within 31 and 45 days of purchase, like for example dnt Videograbber, KING MA Videograbber and the rest of that junk.

Best recording equipment I have used in a long time this will let me build up my video /music collection I also think it's very good value for the money.
