If an Egyptian Cannot Speak English

I loved everything about this! There's the experimental style and especially the unexpected turns that leave you wondering. The characters are so complex and well-developed and I love that you don't get any obvious good guys or bad guys. As well, you feel like you are literally in Cairo, the way the setting is so vividly established. The entire book is seeping with poetry and just such a pleasure to read, you never want it to end.

I bought it as a resale. It was in excellent condition. Is is an interesting book, but ai could not get I to it.

If you’re part of the MENA diaspora especially this book will speak directly to your soul. You’ll find yourself turning pages and promising yourself “just one more” before you go to bed. The characters are so rich, they are infuriating and lovable and complex like real people. Your heart breaks with theirs and mourns with theirs. A true masterpiece
