CRAFTSMAN Tool Box, Lockable, 16 in., Red/Black (CMST16901)

I purchased a large Craftsman metal toolbox many decades ago, that held all my tools, plus drill, sander, etc. It got heavier, and I got older in addition to downsizing to an apartment. I paired down to only those tools that I would now use and leave the big jobs and repairs to repairman. This fit my needs perfectly. Held what I needed it to and didn’t take up too much space perfect for my needs as a senior and I still have tools available for someone else that wants to fix something for me. Good price. Satisfied with my purchase.

This is a well built plastic toolbox and looks very nice has well. I like the front metal closing bracket. Stays closed and you can also add a lock. I also like the removable tray. I had 2 minor problems with it. It only opens 90 degrees and has a tendency to close on you by itself. Another 10 degrees of opening would not hurt. I got around that for now by adding weight in the top pockets (nails, screws, ....). The second is that there really is not anything to grab hold of to open the top lid if you are trying to open it from the front. The rest of the toolbox is so nice that I tended to overlook these minor inconveniences and I did not deduct any stars. The cost was right.

This tool box is very useful. I gave to son for Father's day as a gift so he can hold his acrylic paints and paint brushes so they do not get lost. He did like it. Yes, I do recommend.

I was looking for a small tool box for inside the house so I wouldn't have to go out into the garage every time I wanted to do a small job. It was the perfect size for a couple of screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, etc., so I would be more likely to do those silly little jobs I was putting off because the tools were all the way in the garage, which incidentally is attached to my house, lol. It has a tool tray inside and a couple of compartments on the lid for small items, with covers that snap closed. I doesn't feel heavy duty but I was looking for small and lightweight. The biggest and so far only problem is that the lid doesn't quite open to, or past 90⁰ (straight up), so it doesn't stay open and every time you need a different tool you have to open it. For the small jobs I'll be using it for that's not a deal breaker, but it is an annoyance. Overall for the price it was a good buy and will serve the purpose I bought it for.

That’s a very handy tool box to keep your items organized. The top compartment is very useful to keep frequently used tools easily accessible. Lock works reliable.

I bought two in this order. I was happy with these when I first got them, but when I started to load them up then came the BIG UH -OH. The lids won’t stay open while you’re trying to arrange things. I tried to force my brain to use these anyway, but after 5-10 minutes I knew I’d be returning them. Who comes UP with things like this? Everyone’s beaten this dead horse, but… remember when Craftsman was the top for everything that name was on. No more.

My hubby was very happy with this little box. He uses it to carry tools and such to the airfield where he flys his rc planes.

I had random tools lying around for small repairs, etc. around the condo. And now I don't. The lid doesn't flip more than 90 degrees, but it's better than my other tool box where its lid flips all the way back and topples over. Made of strong, durable plastic, and the metal latch is strong too. Overall, this toolbox doesn't feel like it's going to fall apart given the weight of it now with everything inside.
