NO LEAKS!! If using polypropylene fitting adapters, combining plumbers putty and tape
We DIY’d the replacement install of this upgraded whole house water filtration system. No fitting/adapters are included, normal practice, as everyone’s situation is unique. The instructions did not specify a preferential material type of fitting adapter/s. Just that the system was a 1” female and in our case we needed to adapt to 3/4” home pex plumbing. The first 2 times attempting install, we used metal adapter/fittings, both times the system leaked. The metal also caused the female threaded area in the unit, to shed a small amount of plastic with each install. First install attempt we used plumber’s tape wrapped around male threads 10 times, as the instructions recommended. For the second install attempt, we used plumber’s putty, it still leaked. Determined to stop the leaking, I searched on you tube for install video’s. One video showed this exact system and they used polypropylene adapter fitting. So here on Amazon, I found a heavy duty polypropylene hose fitting that adapted from the 1” to 3/4” (Banjo HB100-075 Polypropylene adapter). They worked great with both the system and our Pex plumbing. Used a heat gun to soften the Pex, then pushed the Pex into the barbed 3/4” end. Allowed it to cool down. On the adapter’s male threaded end, we applied plumber’s putty to the threads, added 4-5 turns of plumber’s tape and ended with a thin layer of more plumber’s putty, (over top of the tape). The putty helped the plumber’s tape to adhere much better than usual. We then ended with a small amount of plumber’s putty over top of the tape. In the system housing on the 1” female thread area, we applied a small amount of plumber’s putty. After hand installing the fitting adapter into the unit, we used a metal adjustable wrench to tighten it down. It took “3rd times a charm” but we are now very happy with this system. We have a high iron content (16ppm) and so far, the system seems to be working out great!! It is much better than the single unit we replaced. If I can figure it out, I will update this review on how long these filters last. If they don’t last long enough, I will upgrade to the better filters available. This will help extend time between filter replacements. Just a side note: I also learned from the YouTube video, to use a “food grade” lubricant/grease on the large O-rings. It will allow less friction on the ring, therefore allowing the ring to last longer. There are two O-rings on each filter casing. The top one comes off easy, so the whole ring could be coated. The bottom ring is tight, so I did not remove it. I applied the lubricant just on the exposed part of this O-ring. Hope this information makes everyone’s install experience so much easier. Use polypropylene fittings/adapters ONLY, NOT METAL!! Also use both the combination of plumber’s putty and tape!!

So far so good
This filter system works well. Was a bit of job to do it myself but I got it done no leaks. We definitely can tell the difference on our well water. We had a smell issue and for the most part it's gone. With interchangeable filters you can try the different filters and see if they can help with whatever issue you may have. We are satisfied with it's performance. Water pressure is same as it was before the filter was installed. For the price it a good deal, it seems depending on what filters you ger the prices do change but the housing is the same on the different units. Water is clear and cool. We have a RO unit so we don't drink the tap as it's well water.

Clear great tasting Water
Purchased this for our RV. I followed the directions and the process went great. I made a stand to hang the filter housing . I did the recommended 10 wraps with Teflon tape. I used a 1" NPT to a 3/4 GHT fitting as I was connecting to water hoses. With that much tape used I had a slight issue with the fittings trying to cross thread but with a little patience they finally started correctly Our seasonal site has alot of iron with a yellowish color. I flushed the filters according to the directions then hooked up to the RV. Fantastic water Great tasting absolutely clear water. Very pleased. No leaks!!!! I purchased 3/4 wide Teflon tape . Lots easier.

Does the Job
I live in Wilmington NC, and the water is toxic. This does a great job! Removed ammonia, and Chlorine and lots I did not test for. That being said. The threads leak. Lots of ways to fix it but I should not have too.

Excellent Customer Service and Leak Issue Resolved
After reaching out to Waterdrop Filter customer service, I am pleased to update my review to a 5-star rating. After explaining the steps I had taken using a SharkBite 1" MNPT fitting, the after-sales team quickly understood the issue and agreed to send me a new filter. This allowed me to use a 3" brass nipple to extend the fitting away from the filter housing. I installed the new unit using the extension and am happy to report that it worked perfectly — no leaks at all. I want to express my sincere thanks to all the customer service representatives at WaterdropFilter.com for their professionalism, responsiveness, and support in resolving the problem. It’s great to see a company that truly stands behind its product and values its customers. I purchased the Waterdrop Whole House Water Filter System mainly for its advertised DIY installation ease. Unfortunately, I’ve experienced multiple leaks during setup. I used standard 1" MNPT push-to-connect fittings, but the problem is that the fittings bottom out at the outer flange of the filter housing instead of within the threaded inlet/outlet. From my professional experience, you should still see some of the white tape exposed when a fitting seats properly — this isn’t the case here. Because of that, achieving a reliable seal has been very difficult, even after trying multiple sealing methods. My water pressure is steady at 60–65 PSI, which is ideal. The filter’s design is appealing, but if the internal depth of the female threads were just a bit shorter, this would easily be a 5-star product. I’ve reached out to the seller for advice and hope Waterdrop will replace my unit so I can retry installation using a workaround I believe will help. If not, I’ll unfortunately need to return it and look for a different system.

A whole house filter
I have want a filter on the in coming water supply to my house for some time. With some recent repairs getting done it was the perfect time. I checked with Lowe's and Home Depot and while Lowe's had what I wanted, Home Depot did not. So I checked Amazon and found this one. It was what I wanted and at a lower price. With costs every where going up stupid fast saving every dime has become important. Pros: 1. Large capacity. It filters our entire daily water usage with no issues. 2. Standard size filter elements, makes replacement inexpensive. 3. Easy install. Take the bracket off the housing (8 screws make it easy) when drilling the holes to mount it. Then re-attach the bracket to the housing and hang it. Super easy. 4. All materials needed to install the filter, except plumbing fittings are included. 5. Easy to understand instructions. There isn't much to installing one of these, yet a lot of Chinese made products have crappy instructions. Cons: 1. Opaque housing means you can visually assess the state of the filters without opening the housing. 2. Filters need to be replaced regularly. This is the down side of all filters. Mine has been in for less than 30 days so no idea of the actual service life. Word of caution. Some articles say you should replace the filter every 3 months. You will need to determine this on your own. A family of 5 uses more water than a family of 1 or 2. So you need to monitor your water quality and determine your own replacement interval. After installation, mine had a leak. Turns out, one of the inlet fittings was cracked. A replacement came from Amazon with their usual mediocre delivery schedule. The replacement works perfect, no leaks. Overall I am pleased with this filter.

Disappointing quality means LEAKS - Great Customer Service
I received the filter set, unpacked it and read the instruction manual. I was shocked to see the requirement to wrap 10 turns of Teflon tape over the male end of my adapters. I have been a DIY'er for decades. I re-plumbed my home, Installed sinks, toilets, dishwashers, hot water tanks, expansion tanks, pumps, spigots, etc. and I've never heard of having to put 10 wraps of Teflon tape on a male pipe. Nor has Google or ChatGPT. As an engineer, my first reaction was that the die used to cut the threads was oversized and the "more than 10 wraps" was a giant band aid in an attempt to cover up a significant manufacturing defect. The first try with 10 wraps failed. I disassembled and rewrapped "more than 10" as defined by the manual (12 wraps). It sealed. Then the filter leaked. I removed it, inspected it and reassembled it, using the provided wrench to tighten it. It held tight for several hours and then both the inlet, one of the filters and the connector between the two filters all were leaking within 24 hours. I'm in an off grid cabin running 35 psi max so I'm certain it's not excessive pressure. I probably should have read ALL the reviews before purchasing this filter set. Other people have had the same issue and resolved it by experimenting with multiple different materials for the inlet and outlet. While I applaud their persistence, I figure it should work right out of the box. I used industry standard couplings. I shouldn't have to experiment with various materials, numbers of wraps, application of plumbers putty, etc. to make it work. Edit 2025-09-02: Once I made this original review I was immediately contacted by their customer service department. We had a LOT of correspondence. They sent me a new filter set. During this time I carefully read the "1 Star" reviews for this company and other companies who sell a nearly identical product. They all have a significant number who complain about leaks. The root cause is the threads are not NPT (see the attached drawing). When a tapered thread is screwed into a non tapered thread only the very end threads (the biggest) make contact. This is why the nipple has to be screwed in to the very end. Instead of ALL the threads making contact, only the end threads make contact. The product does not comply with US standards. I of course explained all this to their Customer Service Department (Waterdrop's, not Amazon). While they were very polite and persistent, Customer Service can't fix the problem. It's an engineering problem. If I could do a review only for Customer service they would get a 5 star rating but I have to leave my rating as 1 star because I'm reviewing the produce, not Customer Service. If they change to thread cutting to do fit NPT they probably would have a very acceptable product. But as it stands now, it's not. I removed the Waterdrop filter and found another solution that does not leak.

Excellent product works amazing
Had very low water quality in our 20year old new to us home. Installed the filter. Totally eliminated smell and painful taste. Highly recommend this product.

Great Filtration Unit !
The Waterdrop Filtration system was a breeze to install , paying close attention to getting the fittings properly wrapped with thread tape and tightly secured , will insure a leak free operation. Great unit, got rid of my dirty water stains in the upstairs toilet and also the foul smell coming from the tap water.

Good quality, works as advertised.
Good quality and seems be working as advertised. I used pipe thread tape and compound as well the first time plumbing in the fittings. So far no issues with leakage. Haven’t had my water tested since being installed but has noticed our hard water/iron smell has gotten better since instalment. Only has been a few days but hoping it’ll only improve with time. Happy with the purchase thus far.

Water filtration system
This is a very easy filtering system to install, however, similar to previous reviews, the inlet and exit connections DO need at least 15 wraps of Teflon tape to ensure the connection does not leak. I originally wrapped 10 times and had small leaks( drips), and added an additional 5 wraps and eliminated any leaks.
