Melnor R301 8 Pattern Thumb Control Relaxed Grip Nozzle

I just received this nozzle and used it this morning. If you have arthritis in your hands or other issues with your hands, this nozzle is perfect. It is easy to hold and to turn the water off and on. Not sure how long it will last; but seems very sturdy.

The thumb controlled valve on the handle is great! There is a lot of space between the valve and the outlet so after you turn it off there will still be a teaspoon or two of water that will dribble out for a few minutes. After that it is totally dry and no leaking.

The Melnor R301 8-Pattern Thumb Control Nozzle is an excellent product. It works even better than described — the 8 spray patterns are easy to switch between, and the water flow is consistent and powerful. Actually, I would rate this 4.5-5 except for one thing. Water kept running continuously at junction of hose to nozzle. When I unscrewed it, east to see that the washer was incorrect. It had 4 tabs that went to the walls of the junction and the rest of the washer was about 2 millimeters smaller. Once I put a correctly sized washer in, the nozzle worked perfectly. I love it now. But the manufacturers might want to look at that.

I have bought three of these after the wire cutter said it was the best choice. One of them almost immediately broke (the thumb controlled valve starts to fall off so water sprays out the side of the hose and all over you). I figured it was a fluke and bought another one AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED! This thing is a cheap price of crap and I’m disappointed in the The Wirecutter for recommending it.

Great quality, used it for one summer and it's holding up well so far. Great for people who don't have great hand strength or feel pain when gripping normal hose nozzles (or for people who dimply don't want to keep the lever squeezed the whole time while watering. Water flow is great, and settings are great.

I'm 77 and have gone through so many hose nozzles over the years and this is the best one I've ever had. It's amazing and makes watering so easy! No holding the lever down so my hand doesn't get tired. The distance it reaches is great so I can reach plants in the back of the bed. I want to give them to all my gardening friends for Christmas. Great stocking stuffers.

I ordered two of these a year ago and it’s the best nozzle I’ve ever used. Easy to grip with a simple reliable shutoff and a useful selection of spray patterns. I recently had a small issue with one of the nozzles and the company addressed it that same day. Outstanding service!
