The ONLY case for Note 8 from function to bulk to asthetics
There's 100s of cases for the Note 8. Here's the issue- some protect but look like crap and make an already large phone even bigger; some look amazing but protect like crap; some look amazing, protect....but won't wirelessly charge. And so on and so forth. Here's the thing with the UAG Monarch-- it's the ONLY case on the market that gives you protection of bulkier cases while adding as little mass to the phone as can be expected and still allows for wireless charging--- while looking amazing doing it. The main critiques of the Monarch seem to revolve around two core matters: inability to use screen protectors (especially of the tempered glass variety) and inability to wirelessly charge. I find that neither of those are issues for me. 1) you shouldn't be using tempered glass protectors on the Note 8 anyway, it kills the screen response - just utilize a film protector; and 2) I've had zero issues with wireless charging; now I did have one wireless charger that wouldn't charge unless you turned the phone sideways.....but the fact is that wireless charging is a combo of case, charger, plug and cord. If any one of those isn't what it needs to be, the wireless charging won't work. But trust me---- if you can't wirelessly charge with this case? It's not the cases fault trust me. With that out of the way? This case is simply amazing. It add minimal bulk to the phone but all buttons are easily utilized and all ports are easily accesses. With that in the time I've used it, I've dropped the phone twice uttlerly by accident. One time was when I was dusting the banister and the phone slid out the pocket on my hoodie, bounced through the slats and fell 6 feet to my tiled floor below. What amazed me is it did this with almost no sound- the phone bounced off the corners of the case and landed face down. I went down and picked it up......it was as if nothing had happened. Now, some will point to the price as the ultimate knock against this case. Fair enough. But here's the thing---- remember 5 years ago when the top price of phones was $500? Yeah, those days are gone. Phones like the Note 8 new are nearly $1000 and even now a year plus after release are a "steal" at $500. So even at that price, $50 is a 10% investment in protecting a device that for at least a couple years holds your life in it.....all for the price of dinner for 4 at Chilis? Seems a small price to pay. Add to that the fact that here on Amazon like new units are available for $37ish or less and brand new units can be found on a certain auction site for as little as $15? No-brainer. Simply put- UAG has created the perfect mixture of form and function that helps to protect one of the finest electronic devices ever made and even at the $50+ price point that's a small price to pay. Buy it and try it- if you don't agree, send it back and it costs you nothing. But my guess is, most of you if you do try it will end up keeping it. As you should.

Beautiful and Badass
I have used UAG cases for many of my past phones, and had one of their Plasma cases on my Note 8. It worked great and looked good. But then I ordered a red and black UAG Monarch case for my wife's iPhone 7 Plus. When I saw it, I immediately orderd one for my Note 8. Pictures do not do this case justice. The red is a matte finish with a slight shiny sheen...It's hard to describe but it looks amazing. The leather inserts fit the design of the case and the rubber surround has hexagonal designs...the entire case is simply amazing. This case is slightly thicker and I can tell it weighs a bit more than the Plasma (which is very thin and light) but it feels great, with plenty of texture to grip and protection for my Note 8. Both my Note 8 and my wife's iPhone 7 Plus are very large but thin phones, so the added weight and size actually makes the large phones easier to manage. The edges are grippy in the hand, but don't grab on to fabric, so it's easy to get the phone or out of pockets. I cannot say enough about this case. UAG has done it again with another amazing case and I am glad I ordered the Monarch. If you want super thin and light, go with the UAG Plasma, but if you want your phone to look and feel like the hotness, then the Monarch is the way to go. I hope they release it in blue one day ...

This might be the closest to perfect that I've found
I'm a bit of a case freak. I like switching them up and I'm always searching for the "perfect" case. I have high standards: great drop protection, stylish, sleek and lightweight. It's hard for a case to check all of those boxes, but I think this case may just be it. I've tried a few different cases for my note 8 and although I've only had this one for a day, I can already tell that it's damn near perfect. The monarch case in crimson is SHARP. It feels great to hold, it's nice and lightweight and most importantly, it feels very protective. This is my first Android phone, and one of the hardest parts of my search for a perfect case has been the curved glass. No other case I've tried (speck grip, Samsung rugged and supcase unicorn beetle) felt like it would actually protect the case from a fall but was still sleek and stylish, until this case. The raised lip at the top and bottom of this case creates a nice air gap between the screen and table surfaces, which means that if dropped, the screen shouldn't make any contact with the surface. Long story short, I already love this case and I think it's as close to perfect as I'll ever find. I haven't dropped it and I don't intend to, but I feel confident that this case will offer great protection for the phone. I was nervous about spending $60 on a case, but now I'm so happy that I did. If you're looking for quality construction and great drop protection in a lightweight and stylish case, buy this.

UAG & durability got hand-in-hand
I've had UAG cases since my Note 3 and this is no exception from being of the best case developing companies in the market. Initially when the Note 8 first dropped, UAG had their arsenal of cases ready at the get-go at day one. But, as anyone who knows UAG, these cases did not come cheap. Comparable to Otter Box cases, they retailed at $40 to $50 depending where you purchase them from. So as a phone that's nearly 2 years old, the case obviously dropped in price (purchased at $12.99 as I'm typing this), this case is a must. Here's some pros and cons that I'd like to point out for those who like their tl;dr: PROS: +Case is lined with TPU rubber, the same grade used on military rifle magazine housing to reduce shock when dropped +Hard plastic is made of poly-carbonate plastic, the same grade also used in military grade weapons such as the ACR +Snug fit meaning there's little to no chance of the case loosening up in the near future so the phone won't fit like a glove CONS: -If you use a glass screen protector, be weary that the edges of the glass will be pushed off when applying the case; use your nail or a card to lift the area around said corners of glass so they can fit under the case as well -Button covers are somewhat stiff, but doesn't require much force to press on; not really a con but should be mentioned for people who have a hard time adjusting to UAG cases and this has been a thing since their original cases -Doesn't necessarily provide side protection or overall screen protection other than top and bottom; can be an issue with most of Samsung's newer phone models due to screen curvature Summary: Know that UAG uses only the best materials in the market and test each model despite knowing their own, just so the consumer can have the best experience for a case. There are some drawbacks on the cases that is mainly to blame on the phone's original manufacturing and/or design. As Samsung continues to develop curved screens, protection on the sides aren't always going to be 100%, so it should be noted that if your phone happens to fall on a sidewalk curb, a rock that just happens to be in the middle of the street, or lands in an unfortunate way, the screen will not be so safe. So just take those into consideration. But as far as UAG goes with creating products for flagship phones and just being one of the most outstanding companies, I trust them enough to continue providing A+ products in the future and hope to see more in the next coming years.

The Best
I don't write many reviews, but felt compelled to after this case saved my $1,000 phone from my very hard tile floor...twice now 1st time, I was sitting on the ground and it kind of launched out of my hand landing mostly on the back of the case - a decent test from maybe 1-2 feet where it was more tossed than dropped, the phone (and case) were completely unscathed, but the screen did not land down. 2nd time, today, was from a full standing pocket height, landing completely face down. I wanted to, but didn't even cringe because this case is so well made that I knew the screen was going to be okay when I picked it up (it just sounds 'solid' when it hits the ground), and so my phone survived perfectly. Very comfortable case, easy to hold (love the leather on the back!), side buttons, pen slot, and all ports works flawlessly, curved edges are completely protected while still not interfering with the view or ability to use the edges (the screen cannot touch no matter the position when on a flat surface), the form factor is relatively small for a significant amount of protection (its really not much/any bigger than S7/S8s with an Otterbox), and finally with all this the case also looks awesome, and is a very quality and solid constructions - so many compliments!

The only phone case I will buy. Worth every penny.
This may get long... I used to be a complete Otter Box nut. Seriously I would get my new phone and before I walked out of the store it had the plain-jane black Otter Box Defender case on it. Those things are clunky, and honestly not all that durable; at some point the rubber shell cover gets all nasty and stretched out. Eventually the clamshell belt clip will break and did many times over the years that I used them. That left me with a HUGE, bulky case on the phone; don't get me wrong, I love my big Samsung Galaxy Note phones, but the cases were ridiculous. This is were my UAG story begins. It was the fall of 2014 and I had just gotten my Samsung Galaxy Note 4, as with all my other phones I had walked out the door with this massive Otter Box on it. Within a month the clamshell was destroyed, the rubber flaps over the ports had torn a bit and wouldn't stay shut and the screen protector was in shreds. Mind you, I'm not blatantly rough on my devices and take care of them, but I still use them, and that's what I get them for, to use!. While I am a Sprint customer, a very close friend of mine works at the local Verizon store and is the manager there. While visiting with her one day to get a new charging cable for the phone, she noticed my very decrepit looking Otter Box and commented that I may need to think about a different brand. Talk about good sales tactics here, because in that moment she was also stocking this new case brand that I had never heard of, Urban Armor Gear. What a strange name, but I saw these super cool looking, minimalist cases that honestly didn't look like they did a whole lot. I first laid eyes on the sweet bright Orange Pathfinder and said I had to have it instantly. Yep... I made a snap decision based on the look of the case, and without knowing anything about it. My friend was cashing me out and I saw the price tag scroll across the screen showing $40.56, at this point I kind of flipped out a little and wanted to know why it was "so expensive for this case that barely covered the phone". Before I could say anything though she had paid for it and told me Happy Birthday! I thanked her and went my merry way with this bright new Pathfinder case that I loved the look and feel of. Fast forward only a few hours and I'm on the second floor of the University and my phone slips out of my breast pocket as I lean over the railing, down goes my phone all the way to the concrete below... I was certain that my phone was smashed to bits inside the case and the screen at minimum would be shattered... Once I made it down and picked up the phone I was absolutely shocked the discover that not only was the phone not damaged in the least, but even my glass screen protector was intact! This got me into searching out the UAG company and finding out more about their products; low and behold I found the limited info, but that is all they need. The specifications are not extensive, just the bare bones details to tell you that your device is protected inside their products. I had that phone and case up until December of 2016 when I switched to my Galaxy S7. This time, I walked out the door with my shiny new S7 snuggly fitted into a brand new UAG Pathfinder case. The S7 and the case are still mated together and work just fine but I really wanted the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 because I missed my S-Pen, before walking up to the counter to purchase my new phone I had the UAG Plasma Crystal in hand ready to slip on the new phone. I'm a bit of a clean phone snob and so I do have a dBrand Skin on my phone, even inside of the UAG case, but my ultimate idea of how to change the look of my phone is with a UAG case. This brought me to the decision on going all the way up the ladder and getting myself the beautiful Monarch case in Metalic Red with top grain leather. If you run into me on the street, or travelling abroad, you can put a $100 down on a bet that I will have a UAG case on my phone as long as the company keeps making cases. I don't give brand loyalty to many companies, and the product has to be worthwhile. In my experience and opinion, UAG goes above and beyond to produce a very durable, sleek looking, and incredibly protective case that is unsurpassed by any other case at this price point and size. There are other "rugged looking" cases, and they are super fancy with all the metal hardware and bolts being them together, but I'm sticking behind UAG with their tough, easy to use and fantastic looking cases. I know my phone is protected and the case is going to outlast the time that I will be using the device.

High quality case
I had a UAG case for my iPhone 6 and really loved it. Decided I'd give this a try for my Note 8. Much like the iPhone case, this case is very nice and almost perfect in my opinion. The case is very slim but does offer a decent amount of protection. I wound up getting the Plasma Ash case and I think it looks the best out of all of them. While it looks pretty slick/shiny, it has a good amount of grip to it so I have no worries about the case slipping out of my hand. The cutouts are pretty much perfect. The cutout for the S-Pen is a little larger compared to some other cases I've used so it's much easier to get out. Only issue I'm having is trying to find a screen protector that will work with this case. Great case and not too flimsy.

Great Cases, High Price, but not my color anymore
I've been using UAG for 5 years now, I just switched to a Note 8 from a 5. I always had the rust or orange case. They don't make that color for the 8 (that I could find) so this review is more about my color choice than the quality and fit of the case. The cases are awesome but pricey, and have protected 2 very expensive phones. But, I want the Orange! Not the see through Gray? Which is actually black after you get it on. So, UAG, I love ya but no Orange? Sorry, have to move on, and I don't want see through when the pictures show a definite gray color. Thanks and Good luck all. Ps: pic shows my 5 in my favorite color and I will miss it. Went through an auto accident many drops and no damage at all.

Excelente marca, y funda.

Me gustó
