It's a foam block that fits in the palm of your hand. Merge has tons of apps that can turn the cube into almost anything! It even has apps that are video games. All you really have to do is download the apps, hold the cube in your hand and use your phone to scan the cube. While looking at the cube in your hand through your phone it looks like your holding something totally different. You can see this in my pictures. He got a kick out of the games. I really liked them too. It can provide endless entertainment for kids and adults too. I recommend putting your phone in a tripod or something that'll hold it completely still because it works better that way. The picture can disconnect if you move the phone around too much. Other than that, this is a learning tool and it would make a great Christmas present. I definitely recommend it! 👌

I got this for my son and daughter-in-law and we all tried it out. It was easier for the young folks to get started with it. There’s a good short tutorial that young people just seem to intuitively understand. So set-up is fairly easy. It’s about the size of a Rubik’s cube and feels like a stress ball. You have to hold it so that a flat surface is facing your phone – it doesn’t get angles. My daughter-in-law recommends it for school-age children who can operate a phone. There are some enjoyable apps aimed at children including educational ones about the brain and the body, artsy ones for building things like DIG. We tried many of the free apps produced by Merge Cube and they are good for experiencing the augmented reality aspect, but most are not games. The Piranha and Star Fighter games in the Things app are cute though. We also have the Merge VR goggles and liked the experience best wearing the goggles with the phone rather than the phone alone. Less coordination needed. We tried it with an iPhone SE, OnePlus 3, LG G4 (which might have had some lag time not sure why), and iPhone 6. The SE is small for the goggles so obviously didn’t work as well. All the other phones worked with the goggles.

Great till now. Used it with my Windows PC and external webcam for flexibility. Will come back with update after I have used it with phone and VR headset.

I honestly don’t know what I was expecting. It’s cool, definitely more for kids. I thought if you held the cube in front of your device you would project something onto it that you could see outside of your phone screen. It’s still pretty cool though, probably more worth it if you subscribe because you only get the cube, app and several demo modes without it for $30 bucks. I’d say the value is worth it if you subscribe. It would make a great learning tool for littles.

Such a scam imo. Signing up for the account, their website states it is a 14 day trial (not the free 3 months they advertise). AND they required a credit card. I deleted the account as quick as I created it. If the ad stated that I had to sign up and then remember to cancel later, I would have probably picked another toy. Now I just have to return it. After reading some of the other reviews, sounds like it's a flop and a problem getting apps and apps that work anyway. What a total disappointment. For me, it's an inconvenience to have to return a product. To my grandson, a total disappointment on something he was so excited about. Shame on you MergeEDU.

Work really well with tablet (apple) and phone (Samsung) to do plenty Augmented Reality merge apps. I fibd the merge apps is great and plenty to explore. I recommend getting Merge headset which is fantastic as it is easy to adjust and soft to use with the phone. Work well just as well as having VR headset. Battery can run out on phone or too hot depending on the app but it is good to limit the time for children or myself!

The cube is great. The attendant applications are few and thugh this could be used as a great tool in the classroom. C# development is needed to make many more applications. Till thn it is a use afew times and put away in the cupboard kind of purchase
