Stant-45209 Superstat Premium Thermostat

It's installed on a 2005 PT Cruiser. I did it the same time as I did the radiator, because of more working room and the old one was factory (124,500 miles). The install was ok. Not a lot of room to work with. It says you don't need a gasket, but my factory one had the rubber one that goes around the outside and squeezes into the t-stat housing you unbolt from the engine. It was a little tough to install it in the car, but I also used a little high temperature gasket sealant to be sure of no future leaks. Once it was all together, it operates perfectly and has about 700 miles with no issues. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good thermostat. I also strongly recommend anyone who is replacing their radiator to replace the thermostat at the same time. I'm an ASE certified auto/diesel technician with 16 years of professional experience.

Fits rather sloppily and doesn't have the expected notch indentions like the old one did. Once installed it works correctly so far, Only 2 days of driving but cools engine correctly and heater works correctly as well. I will choose a different one if I ever need to replace it.

Had to cut ear off O-ring to fit. However been working well.

The thermostat works as it should. I had to reuse the old gasket, 0-ring as the new one has a notch that sticks out on it. One could cut it off, but even with that, the gasket made the housing stick out so far I was concerned it wouldn't seal properly. other than that, it does what its supposed to do.

This termistat fit perfect and works as it should.

So, I was working on a 2006 Dodge Caravan and Amazon said this would fit my vehicle. When I go the housing off, I checked the fit carefully and while this might have worked it didn't have alignment ears like the stock thermostat or the Car Quest thermostat I ended up putting in instead. The housing had two very obvious alignment ears. This thermostate just seemed to want to float in the recessed lip of the housing. When I first put the housing on and hand tightened the bolts and looked down the pipe opening it was clear the thermostat wasn't sitting in the recess correctly. I took it back off and just went to the parts store and got a Car Quest thermostat hat fit perfectly (had the aligment cutaways on it. I don't know if this is actually the wrong thermostat or just a bad design but I did not use it. I did not feel confident that it would work correctly.

ordered for a 2006 pt cruiser was not for my pt cruiser did not have slots in side had to cut them with my grinder

The thermostat was perfect but the rubber gasket it comes with has a strange little notch that sticks out about 1/8”. Not sure why because there is no slot on the thermostat housing that it fits into. Fortunately I bough an extra gasket that didn’t have the notch and fit perfectly.

This Thermostat works great. Once I installed it my van was staying very cool

The part says for r53 but does not fit the gasket properly because the notches on the thermostat arnt there, car is on the lift for major service and we decided to make our own cuts in the metal so the gasket would seal properly. Do not recommend.
