High-Performance Duty S35VN Steel Ambidextrous Carry EDC 3.9" Sharp Blade Seal XR

Eagle Scout here. This is a solid knife. Sharp, rust resistant, the locking mechanism is strong. I am not an expert in knife making, but it can take what you give it to eat. Serrations is best for this blade if you looked at the other plain fillet blade xr. Blade flip jam - People have reported the blade lock up. It did on mine Just get mineral oil, soak it. (Careful slick...wear gloves) Clean it off. Then I applied gun oil with a needle nose (high heat) to the locking mechanism where the release is inside and out and to any part that moves. Open close. Repeat if it still won't open. Requires maintenance like anything else. Yes I would take it on the trail. However I'd still have a fixed blade and multitool. Always. Cons "EDC" slightly heavy in pocket, a little chunky. No snaggle tooth. That being said an equitable trade imo. SOG thanks for not making trash with bad metal anymore. Made in USA is mainly why I bought it besides being a very cool design.

Excellent knife and has become one of my favorite knives! I bought the s35vn and I want to buy the magnacut as well. Don’t be swayed by girly boys complaining about aggressive stippling. If you pee standing up and dont giggle when you fart this is the mans knife for you .

This beast is serious. If you don’t like heavy things in your pants pocket, go for something else. This knife is awesome, but a bit heavy. Personally, I don’t mind it at all. It is all business, and comes RAZOR sharp. This knife will take a beating and keep going.

11/23/25 update: This went on sale for Black Friday, it’s now a steal at $131.00. Amazon gave me my overpayment back, since I bought it the day before. Don’t wait! Not only am I a knife collector, but I also especially love SOG knives. When I saw this on the Amazon site at the price that was listed, I had to buy it. I read the reviews, and some were bad, saying it was hard to open the knife and it wasn't sharp out of the box. In my days of owning SOG knives, I have never experienced these issues. The knife arrived the next day (even faster than my purchases in the past directly from SOG). It opens and closes seamlessly and was very sharp out of the box. This knife feels amazing in my hand and for now at least, it will be my EDC. Pictured is this new purchase at the top of the picture and a few other I have in my office. Also, my SOG sharpener. The Kiku XR is another great knife, and my all-time favorite was the SOG Pentagon Elite, I own 3. I had 1 that I carry on my bike and when they discontinued it, I bought 2 more at a great price. Worst I ever purchased and returned was a Spyderco Manix, a $112.00 piece of garbage. I have other knives on my backpack, in my motorcycle saddlebag, in my car, in my tackle box and a lot more.

Great heavy duty knife. Well made. Perfect for camping, fishing and hiking. A little heavy for edc but if weight don't bother you, you'll love this knife. My only complaint is a knife like this should be using t8 or t10's. They only use t6.
