Is this radio made of MDF or plastic?

Looking closely at it, I'd say it is plastic with a decent laminate, similar to the console in my Toyota Highlander. The black rounded edges and corners are definitely plastic. It is in fact a tad better laminate than I have seen on MDF. In general, it looks better than the '50's plastic model radios; but it definitely isn't an expensive wooden gem. I'm ok with it, for my retro den. Thanks for making me look!

Is there a trick to getting the radio to play? I am not getting any reception for FM, AM or SW. The volume is turned up and I charged it for 2 hours.

Hello. I do not recall any sounds. But quite honestly I sent it back within 10 minutes of getting it. The audio quality was just too thin. My reason for the purchase was to listen to FM next to my chair while I was reading. Maybe in the garage on am it might work fine. Sorry I couldn’t be more help.
