Trick or Treat Scooby Doo (DVD)

I've watched a lot of scooby doo movies. I'm in my 40s, but my kid is 8, and has been hooked since she watched the 2002 Scooby Doo a couple of years ago. Some of them are fun, some of them are lazy. I'd put this one right up there with the best, like Zombie Island, Witch's Ghost, and Abracadabra-Doo. The animation has been re-visited, and while it's got some throwback style, it lends itself some modern zaniness and facial contortions that got some big laughs out of the family. It was an incentive story, pushing Fred to his lowest, challenging Daphne, knocking Velma off-balance with an unexpected distraction, and torturing Scooby and Shaggy with the serious threat of maybe not getting Halloween candy. This movie is the funniest Scooby himself has been in a while. The cast is in tact as it has been for the past several years, and they are perfect. We get a great song at the beginning of the movie that will have you happy and sad all at once. I appreciate this was a good-effort production with a creative team that put in the time and care to making an entertaining movie.

Nostalgia

When it comes to Scooby Doo, Velma has had queer undertones for literal decades, you can choose to ignore that she has a girlfriend by the end of Mystery Incorporated, or that James Gunn wanted to make her gay in the live action movies, but you would omitting context. Velma is a hopeless romantic in most of the series so the portrayal here is very on brand This is a fantastic little movie and as an animator, this film inspires me, the fluidity and bounce to every movement, the off model fluid transitions, ugh its so pretty. If you want to get mad, she has been gay for decades get over your culture war issues, we exist in media and we are going to keep making art with messages of compassion and empathy. In the tv show Mystery Incorporated, the Gang ends up fighting literal fash capital while trying to save the town from the Violence perpetuated by a government and police force who refuse to do their jobs because the monsters make them money. Scooby doo is often critique of greedy capitalists and to ignore that is to ignore the history of the franchise.

A really fun book! My kids love it

While not exactly mindblowingly original, it's a very fun plot with enough new and unexpected to make it a great watch. Love the pseudo-retro style of the art, and the music used as well. As far as scoobyverse movies go, this is top tier. Truly deserving of the scooby name, and frankly far better production quality than most incarnations.

Great Scooby-Doo movies so much fun and worked great

Scooby speaks in full sentences, Velma is a lesbian, there are too many stories and too much going on. There is no intrinsic value. If I have my 4 year old watch a show I want her to gain some sort of knowledge, life lesson, value of any kind. This move is a prime example of brain rot. Throw some crappy ideas on paper, splash a few of the new age needed DEI things and boom you have a new scoobydoo movie. If you grew up with scoobydoo, loved all of the originals and have a special place in your heart for it. Then avoid this trash remake.

This movie was quite interesting because it mixed up the format a bit. It's been a while since there's been any romance in a scooby-doo movie. ( I belive alien invaders was the most recent example.) But, it ultimately became one of the more fun elements of the movie. It is a bit odd that it was called "Trick or Treat Scooby Doo" as halloween isn't a big focus of the main plot. The annimation took some adjusting to, the first scene looks especially rough, but there are moments later on that are very well animated. The romance doesn't go anywhere beyond Velma having an innocent crush. Obviously if you've got a problem with Velma liking women don't watch this movie, but this has been a long time coming and I'm glad to finally see it happen beyond just subtext.

Es buena película, el nuevo estilo de animación es bonito. Lástima que no tenga audio en castellano cuando si se ha hecho el doblaje y se pueda ver en otras plataformas de streaming.

Me ha piaciuto

Good movie. I loved it. My sister found it pridictable but I still was able to enjoy it immensely. Granted we're adults but we grew up on Scooby-Doo. Also, love that Velma finally got a girlfriend!

Worth the money

This dvd came out in 2022 and its region 1 its all kinds of silliness Coco Diablo makes the movie this time of course along with scooby doo. Can't get enough of my scooby doo!
