I thought the same. It cannot be removed as far as I can tell

How warm is this jacket? Does it keep you warm below -10 degrees Celsius?

My husband went skiing in -23C weather and it kept him warm.

Can this serve as a normal winter jacket other than for skiing purposes?

It depends. Although it says insulated, it wouldn't be warm enough to wear without few layers of clothing underneath of it. As compared to a down-filled jacket for everyday use I would give a 5 out of 10. I use a synthetic down-filled jacket for the winter as this one is not warm enough for me.

How does this jacket compare to the hellu hansen lifaloft ski jacket?
