The best chili condiment I have ever tried!
A very tasty condiment that is also great in cooked dishes, just spicy and hot enough to jazz up your taste buds without setting fire to them! Good for use in all international cuisines that require chili, and tacos are now boring without this sauce!

Great taste and quality
Among the best tasting spicy chili crisp hot sauce I've ever bought. The spiciness is not overwhelming while the taste is well balanced. The quality seems to be great.

Flavor-spice-crunch = 100%
My husband puts this on EVERYTHING! Once I introduced him to it he canโt have enough of it. Itโs so delicious and the oil in it just extends the heat. The crunch of it adds great texture to any meal. This product is for spice lovers.

Delightful taste, texture, & spiciness
PROs: nicely spicy with a nifty crunchy texture. reasonably priced (unlike a lot of the trendy "craft" chili crisp flooding the US market now). CONs: preservatives you might want to avoid (monosodium glutamate, sodium sulfite, and sulfur dioxide). super salty. I was lucky to receive my big jar in one piece, unlike some reviewers. (There wasn't any cushioning inside the box to protect it in transit, so I would advise anyone ordering to consider ordering it alone, rather than as part of a larger order of things that might get damaged by leaking oil or an inadvertently cracked or smashed jar.) Don't be put off by bizarre assertions in some reviews about a "fishy" taste: there is none, nor are there any ingredients that would impart one! There is, however, a lot of salt. To my palate, the level of sodium is overwhelming, which is a shame because I like nearly everything else about Lao Gan Ma's chili crisp, aside from the preservatives. Chili crisp has a way of enhancing most foods that is surprising and delightful. It is fantastic on everything from eggs to veggies to meats to noodles. It has a habit of disappearing really quickly... which is why, if you like the taste, this large jar isn't overkill. If you haven't tried it before, it might not be a bad idea to first buy a small jar at your local Asian grocer to see if you like it: it should be about $3 for a 7oz. jar. You can also order a case (12 jars) of LGM here on Amazon for about $36. After buying this Family/Restaurant Size jar of LGM, I ordered a case of the small jars. Interestingly, the small jars (produced in March 2020) I received taste COMPLETELY different than this large jar: the sodium level isn't through the roof like it is in this large jar, and the flavor and crispiness are noticeably better. I have no idea if it is typical for batches to vary this much in taste -- or if I just got a one-off or expired large jar -- but I am even more addicted now. Great stuff!

Best chili crisp ever
This is the best chili crisp around. It is my favorite and you can practically put it on anything. I put it on eggs beans, salad, salads, and pizza. It is not very spicy at all, and adds the perfect amount of crunch to any dish. This particular jar is massive! It is well worth the money that you spend on it. The smaller bottles in store run you about 6 to 7 dollars. The value for the money is great. I am constantly recommending this to everyone.

Great Sauce
At the time of this review, it seems like there are a lot of Americans finding this review by searching "hot sauce". That's not what this is. Chili crisp is a Chinese condiment, often served on top of noodles. It's more like a chutney or a salsa than a hot sauce. Laoganma brand is to chili crisp as Heinz is to ketchup. What is Laoganma chili crisp? Chili crisp is made from a blend of flavorful, mild chilis and crunchy bits. A popular inclusion are kashmiri chilis, which are very low in heat but flavorful and fruity. These chilis are stewed in a neutral oil along with some other ingredients to add crunch, often peanuts and garlic chips, then tossed with spices. Laoganma chili crisp is notable for the inclusion of a proprietary ingredient, believed to be douchi (fermented black soybean). Douchi in Laoganma has a chewy, almost chocolaty flavor. How do you use it? The best way to try chili crisp is to make a bowl of plain rice or noodles, such as ramen, and scoop a tablespoon or two of chili crisp on top. Mix and enjoy. The chili crisp adds a mild heat, lots of savory flavor from the peanuts and douchi, and texture. Chili crisp also adds great flavor and texture to any dish that would normally take chili oil, such as dumpling sauce or stir fry. So how does it taste? It's hard to describe to Americans so I'd say it tastes like Chinese herbal medicine, mild chili oil, and garlic. The closest thing most Americans are going to have to compare this to is adding bacon bits and a mild vinaigrette to a salad. This is about dressing up the food you have, not about burning your mouth out with heat. The flavor is very mild, complex, and traditionally Chinese. This product is not likely to appeal to the average American palate, just because the complex flavors are totally unusual for America. How hot is it? It's really not. I'd say Laoganma spicy chili crisp is about has hot as "Louisiana" style hot sauce, which is to say it's totally mild but does have a notable flavor. If you enjoy mole sauce in Latin cooking (for the chocolaty undertones), or peanut sauce in Thai cooking (for the crunchy peanuts), you're much more likely to enjoy Laoganma chili crisp as you'll have a point of reference. If you love traditional Chinese cooking, this product is instant flavor. You can make a package of dollar-store Ramen, toss on a big spoon of chili crisp, and it tastes like a totally authentic bowl of noodles. Highly recommended for people who know what they're looking for.
