Works with everything.
Using CrystalDiskMark in my Inspiron Windows 10 PC, Read/write sequential speeds were a little slower than advertised at 510/350 MB/s r/w. That's no big deal to me because I write to it from a SATA hard drive which is so much slower than that. I got it to replace a Sandisk Ultra thumb drive that I write daily files to, and the Buffalo SSD is sooo much faster than that thumb drive, it is worth it. Plus 2 TB space vrs the 512 GB thumb drive. No problems using it in my Windows XP PC, or playing movies into my Sony Blu-ray player which is USB2. It came formatted NTFS, which is what I wanted anyway. It does not come with any utilities at all. Nothing can be found on the web site if it uses TRIM or not. I know Windows 10 Optimizer uses TRIM on SSD drives, but no instructions came with the Buffalo SSD-PUT about TRIM to extend its life. It appears and feels well made and solid. Other reviews mentioned it being too light and made from thin plastic. Maybe they changed it a bit because mine feels more solid and better made than the plastic Sandisk thumb or flash drives. It also works on USB hubs that don't support thumb drives. Can't find anything bad to say.. I have to register it to extend the warrenty to 3 years.

Quality - Price - Saves me lot of money for my project.
I'm 72 and have been telling my kids, grandkids, great grandkids, family, friends, etc. of my life Journey. I've done filming and video editing for years and made thousands of dvd's with white glossy hub making beautiful designs on the label. However, I'll end up with hundreds of videos and thousands of pictures. It takes a lot of time plus hundred's of dvd's for each person is a great cost in dvd's ink, and mailing. I finally thought as much as I enjoy the dvd's they are expensive and numereous hours for each dvd. I got to searching for the possibility something better. I found it. A SSD-PUT 2TB Drive. It's very small yet holds a large quantity and all I do is go to my files and transfer a copy to my Buffalo SSD. It's a lot faster than my old way. Plus my family and friends can easy carry this and insert into, PC - Mac - TV - etc. Other words it works with everything. Look at the price!!!! I've used other products by Buffalo all have been topnotch. My very expensive project has now saved me lots of money and time, plus it easy to carry than 200 dvd's. LOVE IT

Good but be careful
Surprisingly good for the price, especially the 500GB. Fast and so far they've been reliable. I was running 5 of those with Stabebit Drivepool as kind of a useful experiment for a compact file server with some redundancy, and they've done really well... They do tend to get a pretty warm since the case is plastic and the air doesn't really have anywhere to go. I just bought two 1TB to swap in and those are way worse heat-wise. Work fine, but they run so hot during transfers that I'm probably going to pop them all out of the cases and mount tiny heat sinks on them. I caught one running 83c, it was so high it made my SMART monitor freak out and say imminent failure. Once I cooled them down with a fan, all was well. Both of them seem to be about the same. The SMART stats themselves are presented in a strange way on the 1TB so I wonder if those numbers are even accurate (I'm seeing negative decimal numbers for reads and writes, don't know what to make of that) but the case was hot to the touch. For the price and form factor, I still find it hard to beat these even if I have to modify them for my use. I think it cost me about $80 a few years ago to make something very similar myself with a small aluminum enclosure, a 2242 SSD, and some thermal pads. That's probably closer to $100 now and it gets pretty hot too. Update: I took apart a few of these and put some tiny heat sinks on the chips, some paint on the LEDs to make them a little less obnoxious without the case. Idle temp dropped ~20c without even pointing a fan at them and load temps are looking pretty good so far too. Not recommending you void your warranty so be mindful of that, but it does help. Once I do my initial tests and they've seen data I will not be sending them back, so all is good over here.

Best USB I’ve ever owned!
This thing has never failed me. In fact, it’s saved my hind quarters a few times. The load speed and storage capacity makes this a must have, especially in entertainment, where speed and delivery is everything.

Yet again an up and comer brand blew me away!
Let me start by saying that for the price I paid, I was whole heartedly expecting this thing to be horrible, but I was wrong. I am so glad I gave this seemingly no name brand a try, as this is better than 98% of the USB drives available by known brand names. I cringed when I plugged it into my computer not knowing what to expect, and once recognized, drivers installed and it opened a new window I was delighted to find it has a full usable 1.81TB of storage space (in one contiguous block). I then proceeded to back up all of my data between 9 of my computers, and the slowest data write speed was 26MBPS, however it was on an old laptop computer that was dying, and I was barley able to boot it into safe mode to recover data; on my hp elite desk mini, I plugged it into a USB 3.0 port and started downloading data, about 500 GB of data and it only took about 3 min to transfer, it peaked at .99GBPS but averaged 600MBPS. BLOWN AWAY! HIGH QUALITY! GO BUFFALO! If your reading this review and still questioning if you should buy this because of the brand name, let me give you some good advice, coming from the IT guy for a company. BUY IT YOU GOOF! In my opinion this is the best value for USB storage on amazon.

Buffalo lies about write speeds.
I bought this product for my laptop to add storage for large games. I tested the product with one game that was released within the year, since it’s a newer game that could be part of the issue but regardless, I tested the read and write speeds multiple times and troubleshooted for hours. This says it would work with 3.2 usb plugin but did not upload at said speeds on my normal usb plug in for my laptop, even in the 10gbps usb slots. Yet the usb type C adapter was insane. I was getting download speeds of up to 1.2gb per second, Which is double what’s advertised, yet my read speeds when trying to run the game were maxed out using 100% of the disk drive at 40mbps, this made it impossible to run the game , I could only load it up and then would not load in for over 20 minutes, I tried different YouTube and Reddit posts and Amazon reviews to see the issue but it didn’t work. In the end this is a good USB for business and files, but even then you could get a way cheaper usb or ssd with higher read and write speeds for a cheaper price. Not worth the hassle or money for this product in my opinion. Also I found it hilarious how their QuickStart guide included only warranty information. Oh yeah and they don’t allow you to play ps5 games on it either, only for uploading it to the drive and then you reupload it back to the ps5 or you just hold other games on it for holding the information. Seems to only be good at moving items back and forth.

The quality of the usb is quite low
The usb is basically fully plastic, that being it bends quite easily without pressing too hard. The rest works fine.

Buffalo USB - Speicher
Schnelle, kleine SSD mit größer Kapazität. Für besonders sinnvoll halte ich, dass der Steckkontakt einziehbar ist.
