IRWIN VISE-GRIP Pliers Set with Tool Wrap, 5-Piece (2078708), Blue

I bought this set to replace some of my cheaper versions. The cheaper ones I have will be allocated to the kitchen tool drawer. I own mostly Irwin hand tools, and I have my reasons. Irwin makes superb hand tools that just feel powerful in your grasp. When you pick one up, you feel like Tim Allen on the show "Home Improvement", and just want to start grunting at the quality and look of these tools. Even though I have just received them I have put them to use already. They arrived with machine oil on them, but that is a good thing in my book. The roll-up is actually alot more useful than I had imagined. I thought that I would just toss the roll-up away to the side, but it is actually very sturdy and serves its purpose well. Even though the production of Irwin Hand tools has mostly gone overseas, I do not notice a difference in quality or appearance at all. Overall, you can't go wrong with this set, especially at such a great price. You will not be disappointed if you purchase these fine tools. I got this during the recent Lightening Deal. Well made with some nice heft to the hand tools and fits nicely in the hand . All tools came oiled in a roll up bag which is a keepr for sure. It's well made and very very sturdy. Tools will not be making holes thru it becasue it's that strong .Plus there's room to maybe slip in one or two more smaller handtools in the bag.It's really a nice looking blue heavy canvas.The picture on Amazon doesn't do the bag any justice..it's that good ! I have no idea where they are made but you can tell for sure these tools aren't cheap at all once you hold them. I'm sure there are more expensive handtools out there but these aren't cheap by a long shot and well worth the price I paid. I even think the regular price is well worth it. I also like that the wrench has measurement markings ...not sure you really need it but it's a nice touch. Very happy with my purchase and Will buy IRWIN again for sure !

Bought this for heavy duty electrical work, holds up nicely. The pouch is amazing, you have to see it to believe, strong sturdy, well designed for what it has in it. Just wish it had extra space for the Irwin long nose and the stripper i bought. The diagonal and the slip joint are small, the photos on the box with the hand holding it is misleading, he's barely holding the ends of the handles. All in all for the price great combination. Update: The diagonal which i thought small, packs a punch it cuts through 10AWG steel chain link fence with ease. You have to experience it, not a scratch on the edges, DON'T HESITATE TO BUY, INDUSTRIAL GRADE.

Worth the money on sale. Probably still worth it at full retail. The slip joint and groove joint pliers along with the adjustable crescent wrench don't have that well finished, smooth operation of a professional quality tool when you are adjusting them to size. They aren't bad for the money and you can't expect the same quality at this price. If I had to use them all day at work a few of the pieces would probably frustrate me a bit. With an old set of Channellocks adjustments are always easy. The groove joint pliers in the Irwin set just doesn't have the same ease of use that you can depend on every time. The adjustable crescent seems like it needs the ends of the adjustment wheel thread filed down for smoother operation. The slip joint pliers doesn't always slip smoothly. For occasional use at work they will do. None of them are what I would call finicky, just not as smooth to engage when adjusting. Overall, the jaws all align well and the Linesman and side cutters are easy and smooth to open and close. The handles are comfortable and a nice touch at this price point. The tool wrap is better than expected. The steel grommets at the corners are a little cheap, but the quality of the rest of it is better than expected. The mesh is about what I expected and will hold up fine for home use, but looks flimsy compared to the material used for the wrap and the rubberized protection pads.

Tools are comfortable and machined well to work smoothly

I used to think that pliers are usually something you use when you can't find the proper tool so it never was very high on my priority list. Once in a while they do come in handy however to unscrew things where a vise-grip is a little awkward. My old pliers had worn jaws and was prone to slipping plus my groove joint pliers would jump channels when I really torqued on it. I kept making mental notes to replace them each time I used them but never acted on it until I saw this set on sale at Amazon. As soon as I opened the shipment and put them in my hand I wanted to go torque something. My hands are not petite and the grips just felt good. After using my old hand tools for years, this Irwin pliers set is awesome. The jaws are sharp and grab with half the effort. I really never thought about it before I used this set, but my old set is so cheezy. I had some nylon strips to cut and previously had to chew through with my old diagonal cutters, rocking side-to-side while white knuckling the handles, this one snaps through them like pretzels. Not only are the tools first class, the heavy wrap up pouch is a keeper. With elastic straps and hang holes, there is no need to have to go fish for any of these in your tool box anymore. Now you should see all the stuff you can do with a good set of pliers.

I bought this set as part of an emergency tool kit that I was putting together for my car... Amazon had what I thought was a great price, so I felt like I was getting a good value... I knew that the kit was lacking a set of long nose pliers, so I bought a set of the 6 in Irwin to make to set complete for my needs... I was pleasantly surprised to find that the 6 in set fits nicely in the pouch under the 10 in groove joint pliers, allowing the user to store everything together... The tools themselves are high quality & the pouch makes for great storage... These should get me thru any pinch that I might get into & would serve most people just as well.
