Hozelock Dual Tap Connector

As with all Hozelock products they are good quality and they work. It was exactly half the price of our local DIY shop. Excellent value

Can’t complain at all with the HOZELOCK 2-way but what I did notice and is easily remedied is once you have you’re new brass outside tap you’ll have what is called a Hose Union 1/2” fitting. Now unless you’re planing on pushing the hose directly onto the outside tap which I very much doubt hence why you’ve bought the HOZELOCK in the first place is unscrew the Hose Union fitting and then you’ll see there’s very little threads on the outside tap. Put some PTFE Tape around the threads - ( Plumbers Tape ) but that alone won’t stop the connection from leaking as what I noticed is the HOZELOCK kept on screwing upwards if that makes sense but kept on leaking. Now this is the easy solution - all it needed was another rubber ring or washer depending on how you want to describe it. So you put 2 rubber rings inside the HOZELOCK and it then seals the gap and then no leaks. 2 rubber rings / Plumbers Tape and job done

I fitted straight to the tap as displayed, unfortunately it leaked badly and also messed with the thread. After many attempts gave up…but using some old connectors and a small piece of hose came up with a better solution and it worked perfectly…hence my reason for knocking off a star

OK, so it is best to read the package it comes in for a start. I fitted this to my garden tap and it works fine. However, one night I was awoken to water running. When I looked out the window the water was jetting out every where. I discovered that the product is not frost resistant and it had expanded with the frost and when it thawed out the assemble simply disintegrated. It works for what it is meant for but in the winter remove it until all frosts have stopped. Why you wouldn't make a garden product like this frost protected is beyond me but there again had I read the packet I would have known this.

I had one for 2 years and found it very handy to shut off different plant areas from being watered. Unfortunately I forgot about it and left it connected last year and it cracked from the frost. It was my own fault so have bought a replacement. I think it’s important to note that a lot of these water connections and fittings are not frost safe. It’s common sense really but hope that helps someone.
