Better Houseware Small Sink Protector Grid, Stainless Steel

This is a perfect fit for my stainless kitchen sink. Easy to clean, easy to use. Perfect height keeps everything off the sink so nothing scratches.

I purchased this at the end of January to protect my fiberglass sink from scrapes, hot pans, etc. We had originally purchased a large, deep cream colored sink that had not had a protector in it and suffered for it! It had burn marks from hot pans, scratches from silverware, and gouges from knives being thrown in. Even with one plastic tub in it, the bottom inevitably got torn up. Well, the company we had bought it from had a lifetime warranty and they gladly shipped out a replacement. But there was no way I was taking the same chances, so I bought the largest protector I could find. I didn't want a mat, because I had seen those in other people's homes and they always got slimey, and I just felt they were a breeding ground for mold. I definitely wanted a metal grate one. This one had great reviews and was the biggest I could find (our sink is huge) so I ordered it. This item has held up extremely well under family life for the past 4 months. I still have a plastic tub on top, but all food pieces and dirt flow right through it into our garbage disposal. It has not rusted one bit, not even at the joints and the rubber feet are completely intact. Also it hasn't left marks or gouges or even black rubbery marks from the feet in our sink. I would highly recommend this item to anyone with a really big sink. It is well made, doesn't bow due to the feet in the middle, and I love that I can still clean out the grate I have over the disposal drain without having to take everything out of the sink to lift it up (a big selling point!).

This is great. Because of the feet when pouring water out or rinsing the sink nothing gets stuck underneath it.

These fit perfectly in my sink. I love the idea of not having dirty dishes sitting directly on the bottom of the sink where food can leave stains and dishes can block the drain opening. It seems so much more sanitary to me as I can throw these racks in the dishwasher if I want to steam sanitize them. Yes the sink can be cleaned too, but it’s so much more work when stains and sticky food are sticking to it.

I bought this sink protector primarily because of the slope to the bottom of my sink. Anything I set on the bottom tended to slide towards the center, then fall over when it got to the drain. It worked well to solve this issue. My main concern was that the gauge of the wire would be too small and it would flex when a heavier object was set on it. This was not a problem. The bottom of my sink, before the edge starts to curve upwards, is about 19" x 13". At the top of the curve it's about 21" x 15". So I ordered the Large size (18.125" x 12.5"). (BE SURE TO check the sizes listed on the item's page. I get the sense that some folks don't notice that this comes in multiple sizes before they ask questions or order.) The sink protector fits very well in my sink. It also does what I wanted; it levels the effective bottom of my sink so that anything I put there stays where I put it. There are gaps of about an inch at between the edge of the protector and the sink, but anything set there would be on the sharply curved part of the sink bottom anyways, so this is not a problem. Just measure your sink before you order, and choose the right size. The gauge of the wire makes it strong enough to hold any item of reasonable weight that I put on the protector. The only two reservations anyone should have are that 1) you will need to lift it out to wash the bottom of your sink, and 2) there is a hole in the center for the drain, so items cannot be place there. If you're unable to lift this out to clean your sink, then don't buy it. With respect to the gap in the center, I couldn't set many items directly above the drain anyhow, so this also was not a problem. Rather, it makes it easier to lift the drain filter
