Accurate enough to be genuinely useful, with sensible expectations
I’ve recently invested more into my Dremel setup, and this Dremel 220 workstation has been a great addition. It’s one of those accessories you don’t realise how useful it is until you start using it. Build quality is very good. It looks smart, feels high quality, and once assembled it’s solid and stable on the bench. Setup was straightforward and didn’t take long, with adjustments that are easy to understand and use. In terms of accuracy, it performs well as long as expectations are realistic. There is a small amount of play, but this isn’t a £300+ drill press, and for what it is, the tolerances are perfectly acceptable. For small drilling jobs and detailed work, I’ve had no issues at all, and it’s far more precise and repeatable than working freehand. It adds a lot of control to a Dremel, especially for delicate tasks where consistency matters more than brute force. Switching between drill press-style use and a rotary tool holder is quick and practical. Overall, a very handy and well-made piece of kit. As long as you don’t expect industrial-level precision, it delivers accurate, controlled results and feels like a quality accessory rather than a gimmick.

I’m more than pleased with this Dremel Workstation!
I have to admit that my wife bought me this for my Christmas present, but I thought it wise to make sure everything was in the box and working fine before the big day arrived. I’m relieved to say that all parts were in perfect condition, assembly was straight forward, and the unit performed excellently. I did a few trial runs (using my Dremel 3000) by drilling through some pieces of wood and steel and cutting through some 2mm brass plate - with no issues at all. I was impressed with the overall build quality of the station, it remained firmly in place, and allowed me to smoothly and accurately drill holes. My only criticism is in regard to the included assembly/operation instruction booklet - it’s not very good! This is why I would advise purchasers to jump onto YouTube and check out the two excellent videos produced by Russell Platten. By following his tutorials I was able to assemble the workstation quickly and without any fuss, and get the most out of its useful features. Anyway, the bottom line is that if you want to extend the uses of your Dremel, then this workstation will enable you to do that. Oh, and if you haven’t already done so, do yourself a favour and fit a keyless multi chuck to your rotary tool - you can purchase one for just a few quid and it makes the task of changing out those accessory bits so much easier.

Makes much more of your Dremel rotary tool!
This workstation is essentially a drill press stand for your Dremel rotary tool, except with a couple of added features. It comes in the box in a few pieces which you need to assemble. If you own a Dremel rotary tool and actually use it, you must be a fairly practical, hands on person and therefore should have no trouble assembling the workstation. It takes less than ten minutes. Once assembled, you just remove the collar from the rotary tool and insert it into the mount on the workstation, then screw the large plastic nut around the end of the rotary tool by hand, before tightening it with the supplied spanner (no need to over tighten). Simples. The power cable can be clipped securely at the top of the workstation. The arm to lower the rotary tool is very smooth and well controlled. Some users have reported that there is a little play in the device, resulting in poor accuracy. I can confirm that there is a small amount of play, but it doesn't cause a problem unless maybe you were drilling PCBs and needed very, very precise control over positioning. However, if you need such precise control, then you ought to punch the PCB before you drill, which will prevent the bit from wandering on the board. You may wonder if you should have to do that if you are buying this workstation. This is a sub £40 workstation and does not pretend to be a £150 rotary tool press. If you need such precision, then you need to be realistic and pay for the privilege. There are such devices available, but at no where near the price of the Dremel workstation. Now that's cleared up, I can tell you that I am very impressed with this workstation. It's compact and light. It is balanced enough to stand upright in operation without falling. However, you can easily mount it to your workbench using the bolt holes - M6 bolts will work fine (length obviously depending on what you are mounting it to). One feature of this workstation that makes it different to a drill press is the ability to reposition the angle of the rotary tool - in fact, the whole mount rotates, up to 90 degrees, in 15 degree increments This allows you to drill at an angle or even sideways. It also allows you to use the rotary tool as a very mini bench grinder or polisher. This can be useful for using a polishing wheel to buff small items. At the top of the workstation is a very handy storage device - you can store plenty of accessories to swap out during your work. There is a clip to hold the cable in place, out of harm's way and even a home for the included spanner. In the photo you may notice a thin metal arm that hangs off the top. This is to hand your rotary tool from when you are using the flexible attachment (if you have one). This Dremel workstation is a fantastic product. It does what it says it does very well. I would definitely recommend it to anyone with a Dremel rotary tool.

Great bit of kit but a nightmare to assemble
A great piece of kit and a useful addition to the dremel hand tool BUT it was almost impossible to remove the black plastic cap ends on the main telescopic shaft pole. The instruction manual was of very little use. We were pretty sure the ends had to be removed. I tried several times and failed. My husband tried several times and failed. We then watched a video on how to assemble the work station to be sure we were doing the right thing. The guy in the video also had a real problem removing one of the ends. Eventually when we were sure the ends should come off we used a loose vice to help pull them off. Assembly after that was very straight forward. A spanner (not included) is required to secure the shaft pole to the base. The video was well worth watching and was very useful (easy to find on google). A small spanner for securing the dremmel is included and has its own holder on the tool cage. The work station has some nice features (which are listed on web sites so I wont go through them here). It was a fair price. Worth 5 stars if the plastic caps had been easier to remove.

A very good addition indeed for your Dremel multitool
I received this just the day after ordering thanks to Prime. It's a kind of strange drill press hybrid, made in China (Which did surprise me!) specifically made for Dremel rotary tools. A standard electric drill is fine for most tasks, but a drill press can be much more precise thanks to the drill bit being held square for its entire journey. The Workstation 220 works in much the same way, except the entire rotary tool joins the drill bit in the plunge downwards. At just over £30, it costs less than a budget drill, and I unsurprisingly had concerns over build quality for something so cheap, especially when sturdiness is so important with the tasks you'd be using the Workstation 220 for. Thankfully, I was very pleasantly surprised when it arrived. It's not quite as weighty as I would like, but fixing it to a bench with the corner mounting holes should solve that. As it stands, I had no problem using it for lighter tasks without actually mounting it. Construction is simple, but wasn't helped along by the poorest of instructions, which show little about how everything fits together. Thankfully the device isn't much more complicated than Lego, so getting it set up wasn't an issue, especially as there are only three main components. The base is equipped with both metric and imperial measurements and the riser bar slots firmly in place at the rear, held tightly by a locking nut which you have to install yourself. The riser bar has a twist lock at its base, allowing you to fix it at any height quickly and with a minimum of fuss. The additional height is mainly useful for keeping the rotary tool's power cable away from harm and you can also hang your Dremel tool itself using a detachable pole at the top while you're using the flexible shaft for example. At the rear of the main section is a locking lever that fixed the section's height, while similar locks allow you rotate the section itself, allowing you to drill at angles and also cut to specific depths. To do the latter you need to zero-in the depth lock against its gauge with the drill bit resting on the base plate. A large plastic container sits on the riser bar and provides a home for the locking spanner (used to secure the tool to the workstation) and has slots and holes for additional attachments - and the workstation, sadly, comes with no courtesy accessories in the container as standard. To secure your Dremel to the workstation, you need to remove the collar at the front of the tool, place it into the mount on the workstation, then secure from the other side using the locking ring. It's a simple step and the rotary tool is then held very firmly in place. The mount also has holes in specific places allowing you to access the power and drill bit lock. Using the workstation, I was very impressed with the precision it showed, with the drill bit not visibly straying at all, producing a visually perfectly round hole. The sprung dropping lever has just the right amount of resistance to allow precise drilling, although the travel is a little excessive and means your hand is always close to the action when it occurs. I plan to add an extension to the drop lever to limit the possibility of my hand coming into contact with the drill bit! If you've been considering purchasing a drill press and you already own a Dremel rotary tool, definitely consider the Workstation 220 to compliment it. It's precise and can save a lot of money and space, especially if you're only going to be using it occasionally.
