STRANGE COUSINS FROM THE WEST

Review for the 2012 vinyl version of Strange Cousins from the West. I will just review the physical product here, plenty of others will give you the low down of the mightiness of the music. The double LP comes in a gatefold sleeve with printed paper inner sleeves - the lyrics are on one side of one of the printed sleeves and the rest is filled with artwork developed from the original album. I have other Clutch LPs, and some are a little crackly - not perfect pressings - but this is a lot better - a much cleaner sound. The labels on the centre of the discs say 45rpm, but they are regular 33. The track listing is different from the CD release and includes Metroliner Special that is not on the CD: Side A Freakonomics 50,000 Unstoppable Watts Struck Down Side B Motherless Child Minotaur Abraham Lincoln Side C Metroliner Special The Amazing Kreskin Let A Poor Man Be Side D Witchdoctor Sleestak Lightning Algo Ha Cambiado

A great album

Excellent album, as always with clutch

Top album. All bangers, no clangers. Worthy purchase.

First of I conceed that have only heard the 30second clips on Amazon so maybe it is not fair to give only 2 stars. (Correct and amended to 4 Stars) I am a big Clutch Fan and have all their music and have seen them live many times and have enjoyed the evolution of their sound, but this just sounds a very reserved and average, and Clutch are not a reserved or average band. Maybe this will be a grower as my favourite album tends to shift to the one before the current release. Listen to the clips and make your own mind up but I doubt anyone will consider this album to be a classic. Which is a shame. Looking forward to the new album and I take the points of the critism below squarly on the chin. Four stars is a much more honest rating and fair rating.

Every song on this album is awesome.

After listening to this album, I can only say that Clutch is one of those rare bands that never lets you down! Every time this band releases an album, they manage to evolve in an always interesting way while keeping what made them so great in the first place. Strange Cousins from the West has a really nice funk/blues sound that fits very well with the usual hard rock elements. I'd say that the first half of the album is better than the second, with 50 000 unstoppable Watts being my favourite song off this stellar album. Also, the packaging for this album is very cool, which is why I would recommand buying the album over a digital version. All in all, SCFTW is a really good Clutch album that every fan (or non-fan) should posess.

Pour cet album, le groupe US édite la version vinyle. Triple pochette, double lp, un concept ésotérique, un chef d'oeuvre ! Musicalement des morceaux accrocheurs, une voix reconnaissable qui s'allie parfaitement avec les guitares. Des riffs inoubliables, la batterie avec des changements de rythmes imprévisibles, le tout sur une exceptionnelle ligne de basse. Bref je suis fan de disque, les titres sont catchy. Un de leur meilleur album. Ce melting pot de rock sudiste + blues + heavy metal fait merveille et on ne se lasse pas de l'écouter. Un régal pour les yeux et les oreilles !

Totalmente recomendado, excelente presentación de un album de una banda que tras su larga trayectoria esta mas en forma que nunca. Doble vinilo y carpeta con las letras, así como las funda de cada vinilo con ilustraciones. Vinilos 180.
