OXO Good Grips Shower Stall Drain Protector

I've had a few of these types of things and they have all been a bit of a flop. Either they don't sit right on the plug, so don't do the job properly. Or they sit right, but get blocked really quickly and slow the water flow so much you just end up taking them off because it is so annoying.This is a really simple design and it works. Yes, they do move about a bit if you have it in the sink and things knock on it, but as I have a dishwasher I tend to use my sink for rinsing fruit and veg, washing my hands and rinsing the odd thing out. I'm not loading it up / washing up in it and nothing knocks this out of place. The one I have in the shower sits there fine too.They capture stuff fine, but also allow water to free flow through unless there's loads of gunk trapped on them. If you're cleaning them regularly, this is not going to be an isssue. So for example i can cut my hair, shave and shower and this will trap the hair and not block the water escaping when I am showering, like my old trap did. I bought the large size, even though i could probably have got away with the smaller size. I thought it would help ensure that even if they got knocked they would still be covering the plughole and that the larger surface area would allow for a better flow of water than the smaller size when they started trapping gunk. I think I was right to go large.I fling mine in the dishwasher every now and then and they come out sparkling. I have a few OXO Good Grips items and all of them have proved to be worth the money. These are no exception.

Having failed to replace a broken chrome plate shower drain cover without having to purchase a whole new unit, I spotted the OXO Good Grips drain protector and and thought I'd give it a try instead. It looks good, is super easy to clean and, as long as you make sure it is sitting on the perfectly level part of the tray, works brilliantly. Wish I'd come across it sooner!

I purchased this item as I was fed up with clearing the blocked shower drain with a plunger and drain cleaner. I live in a household with two ladies, both of whom wash their hair in the shower. The inevitable result is that within a week of regular use the shower tray starts to fill up with water and won't drain away as it is blocked with fine hair which the standard shower strainer will not catch.I decided to give the OXO a go as a quick and cheap remedy. If it didn't work then nothing was lost!I replaced the standard drainer with OXO and what a difference! The OXO catches the fine hair very easily and the advantage is that you can see the hair accumulating on its top face. The OXO is very easy to clean as one can push the hair off the filter with one's fingers and then rinse the soap scum off. A first class, simple product that works really well.In my shower tray it is possible to accidentally push the OXO off the drain with one's foot as there is no securing mechanism to keep it in place but it's a small point otherwise I would have given it 5 stars!

There are 3 people with long hair in my home so, over the years, I’ve tried lots of different shower hair traps. All have been made of plastic or rubber type materials and have been of varying designs. They all had decent suction but they’ve all also been prone to blocking whilst showering, usually due to a combination of the quantity of hair and the positioning of the drainage holes leading to water building up around your ankles. The hair was easy to remove from most although one, with more protruding “teeth”, proved a bit more fiddly. All of the traps discoloured (dark yucky stains) within a few weeks and this could never be entirely cleaned off. So my experience of shower traps was not great. THIS OXO GOOD GRIPS SHOWER TRAP WORKS ! It doesn’t use suction to keep it in place but the stainless steel flat, holey, disc is encircled in a non slip material so it stays in place over the drain. The holes are numerous and small but, for some reason, the water easily flows through and the hair doesn’t. The hair is easily wiped off and, several weeks into its use, it looks as good as new; no discolouration or mould. I’ll definitely be buying this item again, if I ever need to replace it, and fully recommended it to other long haired people.

Having considered a number of the cheaper silicone protectors or the sink-style steel filters, I chose this partly because of the brand name and partly because of the positive reviews. Since (in my case) more than one person uses the shower ever day, there's a pretty good argument for paying a little more for quality and longevity, and I haven't been disappointed over the last few months.The key thing is that the surface around your water outlet must be flat and the plughole itself must be level - so traditional baths or shower cubicles should be fine. The protector looks good, is clearly well made, feels solid and certainly isn't likely to bend or break, nor is it so light and flimsy that it will be moved just by the shower water. Having said that, I'm not sure it would stay in place for a bath, since it is really it's own weight and the small rubber border that keeps it in place rather than any suction cups.It also works. It is in a shower unit used by two long haired shower users apart from myself, and this has stopped everything, I have very fine shorter hair and it has also caught this. It's very easy to clean (just lift it up and wipe/pull of the hairs or any other debris) and shines up well with normal bathroom cleaners.There's nothing pleasant about a blocked shower and having to dig out old and soap-slimy hairs from a blocked outlet or plug, or using the dangerous and often corrosive cleaners (if you have to, "One Shot" is the best product for this), and this protector has totally stood the test of time and intense use - I haven't even had to think about cleaning the drain since getting it - so I can recommend without hesitation ... as long as you have the right kind of bath or shower floor. A worthwhile investment!

I will upload a picture/video later but this thing fit so snugly and perfectly, at a glance you would think it's how the shower was supposed to be like!Functionwise it does the job and catches hair as it's supposed to. The silicone edges makes it stable and ensures that the filter doesn't move around. And the multiple holes/angle of the filter makes it not collect water.It's extremely easy to clean, just wipe away the caught hair with a tissue and it all easily falls off.The previous pre-built filter had a housing that encouraged bacteria growth, so it was a nightmare to clean. Because this is much more breathable, the whole thing should not catch as much bacteria as the plastic alternative.

You could potentially call me a shower drain cover expert. That's how many I have purchased and tried over the years. It's been exhausting. The plastic ones are easy to clean, but get funky soooo quickly. I was having to throw them out after a month or two. The special shower trap got thrown away ages ago. It caught all the hair alright, but was a NIGHTMARE to clean. And then I met this little guy. Such a simple design. Yet so effective.He sits perfectly on the drain opening. the silicone/plastic around the edge forms a bit of a seal. No hair is getting through there! And the stainless steel section catches what seems like all the hair. I mean, I hope it's all the hair. Otherwise I may have balding concerns.When you want to remove the hair, just wipe it up in some toilet paper and it all comes away in one go. No picking anything out. No fighting any tangled messes. It's clean in one fell swoop.Suffice to say, as someone who likes their house to be spotless but is also a lazy cleaner, this is an ideal product for me!

Good quality and it does stop the hair. It just also stops the soap/suds.. Meaning it blocks the holes and the the water, shower then overflows. Kind of annoying 🤦🏻‍♀️

I have very long hair (near knee length). I also have a brand new shower that I didn't want to clog up like the old one, nor need Draino or other drastic measures. This drain cover is -fabulous-. The pictures show it next to the drain and covering the drain. It fits the little depression perfectly and looks really nice, fitting in beautifully with the new bathroom fixtures. Even better, I accidentally stepped on it and mashed it flat and it's holding that shape without looking mangled, so now it doesn't graze my arches when I step too close.It is still possible for me to jostle it around but a tiny nudge gets it back in place. Note, I see a lot of questions on this: It is NOT attached. It just sits over your drain. The silicone edge helps it keep a little bit of a grip and also allows easy picking up to remove the hair it's caught.It catches hair really well. At least the longer ones. Thanks to trychotillomania I have hairs on my head in every length from stubble to knee length, and I can't be sure the shorter ones aren't getting through the holes. But it's been very simple to scoop off the loops of hair after a hair wash and toss them in the trash. This is a serious QoL purchase. Thanks, OXO!

Precisava de um protetor de ralo que ficasse por cima do ralo tipo grelha e achei essa opção da Oxo. O preço é salgado (assim como todos os produtos desta marca), mas funciona super bem! É só colocar em cima da grelha que ele segura os fios de cabelo. Não sai do lugar pois a borda é emborrachada. Só achei que chegou um pouco arranhado, a embalagem poderia incluir um saquinho individual para que os demais produtos do pedido não arranhassem o protetor. Super indico!

Il filtro per doccia (non per lavello) di Oxo Good Grips é un prodotto molto valido. Lo vedo piú adatto ad uno scarico per doccia che non ad uno scarico per lavello. In effetti anche sul cartoncino attaccato al filtro la Oxo riporta nella descrizione "filtro per doccia". Nel mio caso é arrivato esattamente come dalla foto dell'inserzione di vendita, cioé con il bordo in silicone grigio chiaro. Il diametro é 12 cm. E' leggermente bombato verso l'alto quindi BISOGNA APPOGGIARLO SULLO SCARICO CON LA SCRITTA OXO RIVOLTA VERSO L'ALTO, altrimenti l'anello in silicone non aderisce bene sul piatto doccia. Altra cosa importante da dire é che va molto bene e serve in effetti a trattenere molti capelli e peli ma SOLO SE VIENE APPOGGIATO SU UNA SUPERFICIE COMPLETAMENTE PIANA, altrimenti il filtro non aderisce bene al piatto doccia e non svolge la sua funzione. Il filtro non si sposta durante l'utilizzo della doccia perché rimane ben fermo sullo scarico. La parte in acciaio é molto robusta ed abbastanza spessa, quindi non tende assolutamente a deformarsi.In generale i prodotti di Oxo Good Grips sono abbastanza cari ma la qualitá e la validitá, a distanza di anni, di questi articoli ammortizzano di gran lunga la spesa iniziale sostenuta.
