great quality & value for money
Only had it a couple of days & highly impressed with it so far, usual high quality BOSS build, with a metal top and solid plastic base, simple to edit ( thank goodness as I'm absolutely terrible at tech stuff) & comes with a well printed & easy to follow user manual. Seller I bought from (West End Music - Ipswich) supplied a free BOSS PSU but it also comes with a set of AA batteries, so can be powered up immediately from them if you do not have a PSU. Simple to use tuner using the footswitch lights so can be easily seen & tuned on-stage. Many immediately useable patches built in (unlike many units which seem to have loads of patches there just to show off the extremes of the unit rather than supplying real world useable patches). Using it through combo amp, direct to mixer/PC & headphones the sound quality is excellent, clear & no hum/buss from unit. As I said only had it a couple of days but it's looking like a great unit at a very reasonable price. Looks like I can sell most of my other foot & rack units as this covers (with as good or better sound quality) most of them in one compact unit. Highly recommended.

... I decided to buy the Boss GT-1 and I'm glad that I did because it's one of the best ...
I'm a multi-fx nut so I decided to buy the Boss GT-1 and I'm glad that I did because it's one of the best units from Boss that I have played in a long time. I believe the amp sims and effects on here are the same as the GT-100 but, as I haven't played through the GT-100, I can't comment and can only take the GT-1 at face value. The unit appears to be made of heavy duty plastic and the footswitches are solid. The construction is as you would expect from Boss and I suspect the reliability is the same also. In the last 20 years of buying Boss products I've only had one fail on me - a DD-7. You can hook this up to your Mac / PC with a USB cable, however this is _not_ supplied so you will need to buy your own. It doesn't come with a power adapter either and I would strongly recommend you buy one, if you don't have one, as this thing will eat through batteries like there's no tomorrow. Once you do get it connected to your computer you have you install all the drivers and then you can install the Boss Tone Studio software, which lets you tweak patches or download patches, and you can update the firmware on the GT-1. It really does sound great. Some of the factory patches are actually pretty good and will probably only require a few EQ tweaks to get them sounding good with your amp or DAW. Editing the patches on the unit is easy, but I prefer to edit them via the Boss Tone Studio software, which makes it even easier and, again, I would recommend this option. Overall, I'm very happy with the GT-1 and glad that I bought it. If you're looking for a cheap multi-fx / amp modeller, then this is your unit. There are loads of effects, amp models, eq tweaks, cabinet options, that this thing will cover a lot of ground in any style of music.

Budget price for premium sound.
Bought this primarily to add a bit of controllable reverb, delay, compression and EQ to my acoustic guitar. I also bought a cheap 2 button toggle pedal to allow me to have 2 CTL switches and a tap tempo on the delay. Out the box it sounded a bit harsh on my trace acoustic amp but with some tweaks to the master EQ it sprang into life. Delays are nice and varied. Reverbs are OK, would have liked to have been able to have the reverb as loud as the dry signal for some volume swell effects. The acoustic processor brings some nice tonal adjustments and with the right tweaks, it makes your guitar sing. Programing on the unit is straightforward if you are used to these kinds of units and you can also assign the 3 rotary knobs to almost ant effect parameter for live tweaking. There are also 4 assignment controls per patch that can be used in conjunction with the CTL and expression pedals to manipulate effect parameters like toggling long/short Reverbs without changing the patch and having harsh cut offs. The chorus is also very nice, which is expected from a boss unit. The pitch shifter is a bit pants, very warbly on clean sounds, passible when using distortion/OD. The other modulation effects all sound fantastic, particularly the rotary speaker. Using my electric, the amp sims sound great as do the various distortion/overdrives. The editing software for the PC is very user friendly and is great for learning all the tweaks you can apply using the assignments. Build wise it ferls quite sturdy and it should be able to last a good few years of playing. Overall I'd say this is a great wee unit, but the 2 extra toggle pedals are a must to unleash its full potential. If you are looking for a budget multi effects but not a budget sound, this has it in spades.

Very good compact multi-effects unit
Very good compact multi-effects unit. I don't use the (over-the-top) presets, but combine individual effects to create my own patches. The modulation effects (chorus, flanger, etc.) are very good, as are the delays. It has a useful compressor and acoustic guitar simulator. It's cheaper and takes up less pedalboard space than getting separate pedals or the Boss GT-100. The software editor is good and the USB connection means you can use it as a recording interface with DAW software. The amp modelling in the preamp is fine - not a substitute for my valve amp, but good for late night practice with headphones. The overdrive and distortion effects are not great - I'd put analogue overdrive pedals in front of it for that. The tuner also isn't great - I'd get a tuner pedal. My set-up: TC Electronic Polytune Mini 2 tuner, Tone City Sweet Cream overdrive, Boss BD-2 overdrive, the Boss GT-1, Boss PSA-230 power supply, Stagg 5 Way Power Supply Cable and Pedaltrain Metro 24 pedalboard - a full set of effects on a board for £470. You could easily spend £750 on separate pedals! Overall a very good multi-effects pedal.

Boss GT1 brings an old guitar and vintage amplifier into the 21st century.
The GT1 is a mega value piece of kit which can transform the sound of an old guitar and amplifier into the 21st century. Make sure that your windows10 is up to date otherwise the Boss Tone Studio software will not detect the GT1, if you use this application. Prior to the windows update the GT1 was not detected by the Tone Studio software. There was a Roland GT1 windows update which rectified the problem. The GT! is an AWESOME piece of kit and MEGA value for money. Purchase a straight amplifier (new or old) with no bells and whistles and add the GT1 between your guitar and the amplifier . The effects are out of this world. Everything is in one package, even a guitar tuner so you do not have to purchase individual pedal boxes. The only thing that I did not like was the size of the expression pedal, its ok but if you have big feet then this may be a problem. You can purchase a full size EV-5 expression pedal and plug it into the back of the GT1 to rectify this or you may have to adapt your foot to the small pedal on the GT1. The unit is built to a very high standard with quality switches and controls on a metal deck with a plastic back. The unit uses 4 x aa batteries or a boss power adapter. Highly recommended for either the amateur or even pro guitar player.

awesome bit of kit!
so ive never had ar multi effects peddle nor can i afford to spend a lot of individual pedals at the moment and I went for this little beast after seeing a lot of decent reviews and I love it. its easy to use and has a lot of great functions and sounds. I mainly got this for the wah pedal and the looper and ive not regretted it. my only slight disappointment is it doesn't have a metronome but I just use the one I have on my phone. anyone considering this you should definitely buy it. i looked at other options at less than £100 and although they are great little machines the reviews on a lot of them suggest they break easily and have a large amount of poor effects. you can go online and search for tone you like and easily input it into the machine and play away or go indepth and tweek everything. go buy it :)

Good all round guitar fx pedal for both electric and electro acoustic
Can't complain when a couple of moderately priced individual pedals would cost as much. Lots of useable presets that can be fairly easily tweeked to exact requirements. Why would you cart around a big pedal board when everthing you need and more is included in this very neat compact and simple to use unit? Value for money and plenty good enough for live gigs.

Great piece of equipment for beginners/intermediates
I’ve been playing for a year and a half just through my amp and wanted to try out some effects. I didn’t really know what I wanted to try so I decided to buy this effects board and the sounds it are amazing. I ran it through my marshall combo amp on the clean channel which is all you need as the effects provide enough overdrive etc. that you don’t need the dirty channel. Anyone who has played for a while probably knows this but thought it was useful for beginners to know. There are many presets using different effects like distortion, flange and reverb and it’s really fun and easy to use to find out what kind of sounds you like.

Boss is great. You can't go wrong with this pedal.
Easy to learn. Sounds great and does have great options. I know different amps you get different sounds. If you run the pedal as a pre amp it sounds great. I also run it through my amp to add options. Both ways is fun and you come up with some killer riffs. There is a lot of competition when it comes to pedals. I went with Boss because they always had that sound I like and I can get. Several great distortion options. I'm s sucker for great distortion. You will have to get filmiliar with it to like it or you will never play on it if you're not electronically inclined. Like my first processor in the early 90's. I was to lazy to learn it so I never really played it. Gave it away and I regret it today. It's not hard to learn. Read everything, go over it several times if you have to. You will appreciate it. I use this every time I play.

Boss GT-1 is epic!
The Boss GT-1 is arguably the best guitar processor available at this price point! Checked out tones of reviews before buying it and Solid build quality, looks and feels premium and is super easy to use. The built-in tones are awesome and really convenient to customise. Slightly disappointed that the looper is only 32 seconds, but does the job in most cases. Incredibly portable as it works in battery and DC both. If you're looking for an easy to use guitar processor which comes with an the bells and whistles, has great build quality, offers amazing collection of legendary tones and is super portable, look no further. At around INR18000 before discounts, this is a steal! Kudos to the seller for a smooth and timely delivery.
