This is a brilliant activity book perfect for children, at the beginning of the book there is - Getting Started - With lists of Character and Setting suggestions, and Possible Story Starters. Then you have the start of 16 story themes, there are a variety mix, which is prefect, from School Journal, Time Travel, Animal Adventure, Whodunit, Stage School every topic has Questions to consider, word to use and some have points to consider. The last bit of the book is Story Writing Toolkit - Giving your Stories great titles, exciting writing, experimenting with sentences.... It combines everything perfectly for children aged 8 plus and in terms of content the explanations are written in a very child friendly way. I love the colourful borders. I am delighted with this book, it is defiantly worth buying, apart from keeping them busy writing (not bored in holidays), and it is a wonderful toolkit book, adding to there writing skills. I defiantly have seen improvement in my childs writing stories skills, I'm so glad I bought it!

A great book full of prompts to help children create and write their own stories.

My son has an amazing imagination and I’ve always said he should write his stories and ideas down. Getting him to do that at such a young age is a bit of a challenge, this book takes care of that! From start to finish it includes everything, teaches how to write your story and gives plenty of tips and hints for things to add. I can’t wait to see my sons ideas brought to life. Lovely little present.

I got this for an 8-year old with a love of story telling. I rate this "a brilliant present" as it balances the directed story writing with the freedom of expression that a child needs. This book is wonderful and will allow your child to use their imagination, writing skills, drawing skills and phonics. Whether your child has just begun to write stories or has been writing for a few years this book will capture their work and allow you to have a keepsake for years to come. I bought it for my grand daughter who is forever writing. When I saw this book I was impressed BUT I did worry as I was unable to look inside. I find I purchase more books from Amazon when I can view them briefly. The cover is lovely, but the inside is designed to bring your child's imagination to life. The pages are lined, with an area so they can illustrate their work. There are plenty of pages to use and your child could write one long story or many small stories. IT iS WORTHWHILE, thanks

My daughter got really engaged within this book

My kids have increased their interest in creative writing with this book. Fun prompts and step by step guides for story development make it a winner. Lots of creative ideas with just enough silliness to keep the young writers interested. Recommended for homeschoolers or anyone who needs extra writing motivation.

This book is great! I like the hardcover and the (covered spiral binding) that makes it easy to lay it flat while using / writing in it- but the book itself and the pages are protected from damage. The book is very lovely with full color pages. I love the prompts and the variety of stories throughout- and that it also "gently teaches" the how-to of story writing while making it interesting and fun. I feel that even kids who are not very interested in story writing would like it. It's great for kids who love story writing because it gives them an opportunity to expound upon that. It's also great for those who aren't because it helps them along more. Definitely a great buy! My son and I are really enjoying it. I even recommended to others already.

A nice activity for a budding writer. Much of it goes over the head of my 6 yr old but that doesn't make her less interested and she enjoys trying to follow what she can and having us read her stories.

It gives a template for the user. One can encourage children to write a creative story.
