It is incredibly porous and totally inert. Water circulation Its unique shape allows the water to circulate through and around it. Amazingly, the ceramic media provides a surface area the size of a football pitch for good bacteria to live on. This bacteria is too small to be seen with the naked eye and feeds on fish waste. The cleaning power of ceramic media As the fish waste sinks to the bottom of the biOrb, the good bacteria on the surface of the ceramic media feed on it & absorb some of the toxins. Good grey/brown tank media.
Got these brown/grey coloured ceramic media to add to a small tank & match with the present ones , especially around the live plants, looks more natural after cleaning. It was surprising how much the box contained and the size & quality was ok not all small and in good condition. Bit pricey but I suppose it’s a biOrb product.

When I bought my 30 litre Biorb it came with one pack of media. The pieces were of a reasonable size and covered the bottom. This replacement pack barely covered half and many of the pieces were

Decent Size pieces ... Hooray !
My fish tank biorb 60litre requires this ceramic media . This box I purchased happened to be so much better than the ones I bought at various times from a well know pet shop, as all too small and crumbly and blocked the filter even after rinsing . Puzzling they were also biorb brand though ?? So much better value for me .

Keeps tank clean
Changed the media at the bottom and replaced with this in my tank and its nice and clean and all the fish are alive. Cant ask for better

I think most of negative reviews read the instructions wrong the minimum size pieces you can use is 5mm not 5cm and 99% of the 3 bags I bought were bigger then that

Every Aquarium need this as the bottom layer
Many filter media look just like a filter media. This is the only ceramic filtration media that actually look like a loose rock. Very appealing in a fish tank and actually have valuable function as the filtration media inside an aquarium. You do not need to own a Biorb tank to use this ceramic material. It look good sitting at the bottom of any tank out there and will grow millons of bacteria that neutralize fish waste in your tank.
