SQ50V Metronome

Any faults it has are minor and its good points outweigh them so I gave it 5 stars. Faults: You have to treat it with respect as it is only plastic, especially the on/off switch which could easily be broken off with rougn treatment. It comes with a headphone socket which gives a realy bad noise through earphones so is as good as useless. I wish it had some kind of AC mains input as this would negate the need for batteries as batteries are expensive, but as I said the battery is still going so far. Good points: The batteries came with it which was nice. I don't know how long they last but it hasn't died yet. It is not a rock solid object but for the price it is quite good. You don't have to piffle about to set the speed of the beat you want, its easily done with the attractive dial on the front. Overall it's look is quite sheek, considering its plastic. My only real complaint is that I can't play in time very well and the purchase of this device magnified how shockingly bad I was, I kind of have more sympathy for what my neighbours must have been enduring with my out of time 3rd rate pianist skills. With this I hope to improve though. If one wants to be a good musician one must take into accont the beat and length of each note in written music as well as the pitch so the sooner you get a good metronome the better. My mechanical metronome needs a flat surface, so an electric metronome might be the way forward. If you don't want a metronome that has loads of fancy functions like making you a cup of tea in the morning but just gives you an audiable timed beat at the speed of your choosing, this is for you.

The perfect metronome. Daughter does 3 instruments and has been borrowing her music teacher's metronome. I looked at the wind up ones, because I always tend to go for something that doesn't require batteries if I can (you have to mortgage your house in NZ to buy a AA battery), but they all seem so cheap. This is small, light, easy for her to take around, very ease to use, loud or soft. It's just perfect and she's very happy with it. Yes, it needs a battery, but I'll cross that hurdle when I get to it!

A solid built unit, easy and simple to use. Having a pull out stand is handy. It has a fairly loud adjustable sound unit, which can be controlled by a volume control wheel. If used with the sound right down, there is a flashing signal which can be followed. Or you can use earphones via the jackpoint. If this unit had provision to be able to be used by adjusting the individual beats to the bar, i.e. having it sound off 3,4,6,8 beats only at a time, then in my mind it would be perfect. Hence only 4 stars. So come on Seiko, improve this model.

Excellent for helping with the timing when learning music. Not only does it assist when learning music, it encourages one to do physical exercise! Simply by following the different tempo this device offers, it's really good. The device is well made, so easy to use. Would recommend this item.

Really good.

Simple and robust design. Simple to use. Fits in your hand. No time signatures, so just a consistent pulse. No fancy controls or screen displays to confuse the issue; the dial clicks pleasingly into each marked tempo, which gives good tactile feedback. A discreet red light flashes with the beat. BUT dial readings are completely invisible in low light levels (on a dim stage, for example) because they are tiny and unlit. I marked my metronome with tip-ex, which was a help, (see picture) but still not good if the band is depending on you. Also, like other reviewers, I found the marked intervals too great. They vary from 2bpm at the slow end to 8bpm at the fast end, and it means setting to a tempo that's not quite right for the song. This was more of a problem than I was expecting. When practising drums even at low level the speaker is too quiet, though there is a headphone output I could use. It is the perfect metronome if none of these issues is a problem for you, but I have had to abandon it, and I'm looking for a more suitable one.

I love this little metronome. The battery lasts forever, it is so small and compact I used to carry it with me in my bag with my scores before the quarantine. The volume can be adjusted easily, the tone is very gentle and doesn’t overpower everything I play, and the tempo is also very easy to adjust with the dial, I even use it at home instead of my normal mechanical metronome. It was a really good buy, very user friendly, great value, five stars from me.

Excellent click metronome, I use it every day

Simply great. Does exactly what you need. No complicated features no one uses. And the best part, it is the quickest metronome to change the beat setting. Nothing can beat the dial design. Fortget the apps where you have to find it, open it, wait while it loads and then set the setting, or those expensive button operated ones when you have to press the button hundred times to set the desired beat. Takes second to change the beat when you are moving from one piece to another. Less time fidgeting with metronome, more time for practice. I used to hate practicing with metronome, with that one I love it because it's not a chore anymore to set it to the desired beat.

Práctico para cambiar rápidamente entre velocidades de metrónomo estándar (las que tendría uno mecánico). Si por ejemplo en la misma sesión practicas escalas a 92bpm y luego practicas un adagio a 69bpm, es más práctico cambiar rápidamente que en un metrónomo digital de botones sin dial. Tiene dos tonos para los golpes. También indica los aires: Largo, larghetto, adagio, etc. que siempre es una buena referencia. Lo mejor de todo es que tiene volumen variable. Único punto en contra: Si bien se ve y se siente resistente, el plástico negro es brilloso y luce un poco barato. Un poco como un juguete. Criterios estéticos aparte, es una excelente y muy práctica herramienta.

Not accurate. It's not consistent. Also I was encouraged by the fact it's sound was supposed to be natural but it's not. It's not crisp clear. Not recommended

E' preciso e me lo aspettavo, perché è Seiko. Si accende con un tasto, la velocità si regola girando una ghiera e il battito si distingue benissimo al suono del pianoforte e a maggior ragione, degli strumenti a corda. Ha l'uscita per le cuffie. Ha in dotazione una batteria, che si scarica presto. Credo che sia di prova e basta comprarne una a lunga durata, che garantirà a lungo il funzionamento. Molto leggero, di buona fattura e di dimensioni ridotte.
