On the rear side of the base, there is a second clip for holding your notes if you wish to use it without the hood open.My only negative comment is the vinyl is textured and if you only have a couple of sheets on the pad it comes through as you write.

Good clipboard! When it’s dry you can store things in the waterproof section! Good value too!

Could do with a lanyard and somewhere to store a pencil or pen securely but other than that it is great in all weather conditions
