Sankey Growarm 300 Heated Propagator (1599)

This propagator arrived promptly, and has produced germinating seedlingswithin a couple of weeks in an unheated greenhouse despite the continuing Wintry weather we're experiencing! Sweet peas (1 week), 3 varieties of chillies (2 weeks), and tomatoes (4 days) have all sprouted successfully! The propagator is a simple enough piece of kit - just plug it in and let it do its thing. No indicator lamp, but it soon builds up a layer of condensation inside the cover so you can tell it's working OK - and you can feel the warm air if you lift the cover. I use a water spray every other day or so to keep the soil moist. All I need now is some warmer Spring weather to start growing them on!

I bought this so that I could successfully germinate chilli seeds (Hot varieties) that are more difficult than others to achieve success with. It's large, has good height with the lid, includes one large and two smaller seed trays and a moisture mat. It also has two adjustable vents in the top. The temperature it gets to is obviously dependent on the ambient room temperature but nearly all of my seeds have germinated in six days (December) whereas in the past they have not germinated at all. You really need to buy a thermometer if knowing the accurate temperature is important (depending on what you are growing) but with the central heating on, mine gets to around 33 deg and with the central heating off (at night) it maintained about 25 deg. You can control the temperature in a limited way by opening and closing the vents (but opening them allows the humidity to drop and the possibility of drying out your compost) or by simply switching it off at the socket. An On/Off switch on the lead would have been a good addition (hence the loss of one star) and if absolute temperature control is vital, then this isn't the one for you. For the price I think that it's very good

My husband chose this propogater because he was aware of the brand name and believes it to be a good make. It arrived very quickly , well packed and within the scheduled time allowed. It was put into use almost immediately , raising seedlings and did its job well. It is just the right size for our purpose, sturdy and my husband is satisfied with his purchase.

A decent propagator, I have now used it for countless sowings, with usually decent results over a wide range of seeds from pansies to bird of paradise!! Usually get a good germination rate. The only thing I wish I had taken into account is that it does not have a thermostat, and I think that when this one gives up the ghost, I will go for one that does. I do like the make, and will buy another Sankey. It is well constructed, and if looked after, should give many years service.

Good product, excellent value for money. The three seed trays are extremely useful as they enable flexibility for sowing different seeds at the same time. Bought this as I have used a smaller model successfully and did not want to spend mega money on a higher spec propogator .

Super Saver delivery was unexpectedly quick and the packaging was good. The two small seed trays were missing when I opened the Sankey box - very annoying. I suspected the fault lay with the manufacturer, rather than Amazon, and I contacted them by email. I am pleased to say that Fiskars customer service then arranged to replace the missing trays. Well done them! The product works fine and I am very pleased with it - a good size and seeds germinating well.

Really pleased with purchase. Read the previous reviews and all correct re' how well made, easy to use etc. Should have bought one years ago as more or less every seed germinates in it, whereas we were only getting a strike rate of around 60% before so well worth the outlay in terms of time saved and much easier to plan for when you want the plants ready for the next stage in the polytunnel as so reliable with germination. Great price via Amazon as usual.
