Not bad at all, good sander
Looked for ages for a decent strip sander, going through review after review looking for something decently priced that wont break in 2 mins but wouldn't break the bank! This came out as top of the list for me based on above and it delivered! Got my stairs done in no time, make sure you get good sandpaper and boom, your work will be done before you know it. Its speed was great being 800w and the dust collection bag worked great, not to bad to handle with its weight being distributed evenly. Obviously there is vibration so make sure you take breaks, tho I've used other sanders that make your hands feel like needles for hrs, this is a lot more easier to use for time periods then others I have used. Its still going strong now, used it for many projects, was a worthy purchase.

Difficult to handle.
This machine has lots of power and takes some holding. It functions as expected in use. The band tension release is substantial and works well. For the money, not a bad machine. One surprising thing: I went to use the machine only to find the power was switched off at the power socket. When I went to switch the socket, the sander leapt across the bench, landed on it's side and continued running. There should surely be an electrical latch to prevent this happening.

Budget belt sander - recommended
I bought the sander for a specific job, as my other two sanders, i.e. orbital and sheet were not really suitable. This one is quite impressive and although it's not DeWalt like the rest of my power tools, for the low price paid, I'm very pleased. I'm now making a box to store it in, as it deserves to be looked after. All in all, recommended to others for DIY/occasional belt sanding jobs.

Superb Belt sander
I was not sure what to expect but what a pleasant surprise I got, the first time I used it. It was used on very rough wood but it handled it superbly. The bag caught virtually all the sawdust so I wasn't breathing it in. The result was excellent. What impressed me most was that the belt wasn't wandering all over the place when it was running, like my old one (supposed to have been a good make) & I didn't have to adjust it once. Definitely a good buy for anyone wanting a good quality belt sander at a very reasonable price.

Belt slipping solved. great sander.
Great sander for the money. Read lots of reviews that said the belt comes lose within mins. Mine did this too. I noticed the lever for getting the belts on and off was doing anything. The front roller has an adjuster on it for belt alignment. This gets stuck behind the lip on the front roller. Simply back the adjuster of and ha presto the front wheel jumps forward and you can see it sliding back and forth when the belt lever is used. It no longer slipped. Works great and sands very quickly. With 80 grit it rips pine down extremely quickly.

lasted 6 months , avoid!
lasted 6 months! do yourself a favour and avoid , the sander motor works fine but what happens is the belts cut into the plastic surround and gouges a hole in it which jams the belt to the point it is completely useless , , i mean seriously a bit of design forethought to have made the area nearest the belt out of metal

Not as good as I had hoped
This is a good sander, at the price, if you want to sand down flat things like doors and cabinets. But there are a couple of negative points, in that, a) you can't turn it upside down and clamp it in the work-mate, to use it as a bench sander. I could with my old (broken) Black and D. Useful if you are cleaning up smaller multiples like shelf dividers or wooden door knobs etc. And b) the front "axle" has a large flange on one side which means that you cant tilt it on that side. A useful ability if you want to hollow out a bowl shape of get into a tight space on that side. There's no real "nose" to the sander, which means you can't get into smaller gaps. So, to be blunt, not as flexible as my old Black and D, but good enough for straightforward sanding.

Big and heavy but does the job well
This is a big heavy boy but well made and sturdy. I originally got this to help shrink down doors due to them expanding during the cold winter with less household heating. I first tried to sand the door down without removing it from its hinges. It worked to a degree but due to the weight of the sander it was hard to handle. You definitely need to clamp the object down and use this tool with 2 hands.
