Would this be a suitable thread for hand quilting ?

Possibly too strong!! I used it for jointing a teddy bear which requires really strong pulling & holding into position (my hands were in agony with cramp by the time I was finished!!) . The thread held beautifully & never even once threatened to snap.

You can use any needle. All are suitable.

Can this be used with a tufting needle on upholstery

Maybe, I’ve never used this for upholstery, and only for toy making for eyes etc!
