hi, is it really silent or there s a low noise?

Hi. There's a very low hum as it produces the steam/vapour..but it's not noticeable unless I put my ears close to it. In my kitchen or living room with the general noise of the home I cannot hear it. It's not at all intrusive in my opinion. Hope this helps.

Does this diffuser have a lid-locking mechanism as a safety feature incase it's accidentally knocked off a shelf please?

The little pot where the water goes in has a cap over and then the cup goes over the whole pot, neither are all that secure so if it fell hard enough the lids would just come off. It's worth saying I'm seriously clumsy and have walked into it many a time and it hasn't fallen due to the heavy base, hope this helps in some way.

What frequency of ultrasound is used? I'm asking with regard to whether this will affect my dog.

Hi couldn't tell you the frequency but I do know it's doesn't affect my dog at all. We have a Scottish Terrier crossed with a Lhaso Apso.
