WMF Professional Plus Garlic Press

Well I was really looking forward to receiving this garlic press after reading the rave reviews even though it was expensive but when it arrived I was not imprest! I was shocked to find that it was covered in loads of scratches (just being packed in a plastic bag could not have helped!) and for the cost of the dam thing you would have thought it would arrive in pristine condition especially when it came from Germany AND should have been packed in a box! Now I am not OCD or anything but when paying out that sort of money on ANYTHING I expect it to be in ''as new'' condition! The reason I am giving it three stars is that it still does the job and is well made, but take care if you are buying this as a gift as it may arrive in less than pristine condition! I have managed to polish the scratches out with a metal polish instead of having the hassle of sending the thing back and it does not look to bad now. UPDATE: After my initial gripe about the presses condition on arrival I have now calmed down and can give a proper review! This press is the best I have ever owned, it is well made from high grade 10/18 stainless steel and has real heft to it, making it a really easy job to squeeze even the hardest (unpeeled) clove! The press is really quick and easy to clean too, you just pull the handle right back on itself and the hopper just opens away from the body of the press so you can just scrape away all the skin and then just give it all a quick rinse under the tap and its has clean as a whistle again. without a doubt the best Garlic press available and well worth the money!

I'd looked at this for months and even though I thought it worth the money I hesitated to spend so much on a garlic press. I do love garlic though so I tried a few cheaper presses and was disappointed in every last one of them. My penultimate one juddered and made ominous noises when I tried to do two small peeled cloves. I decided that I was actually wasting money by not going for this press and duly sent off for it; I was quite looking forward to getting it and trying it out. What I didn't anticipate was just how beautiful a piece of work it is. It is larger and glossier than the picture can convey and it just glistens with promise. Holding it, you know that you are holding quality that is built to last. The handles fit beautifully into your hand and it is designed so that you can press down without having to put much effort into it. I like peeling my garlic but I easily pressed two large slightly woody cloves with no overflow or side overflow. My other presses pressed the garlic out in a pulpy bunch, leaving behind a mixture of thick outer layer and pressed garlic. This one presses the garlic out in a way that it almost looks like mince. The garlic presses with separate press container have had that piece roll away or have warped when pressed off angle. Since this is all one piece there are no parts to lose or to have get bent out of shape. The inside opens up fully exposing a flat washing surface but if you wish and you can raise the container for even easier cleaning; it only takes a few seconds and you're done. I could bore you silly going on and on about this marvelous bit of kit but I'll wind up by saying that if you love garlic, you will adore this.

I've had this for a year now, replacing a cheap supermarket press bought a few years ago which badly discoloured and eventually broke. Make no mistake, this garlic press is very expensive and I had to think several times before I purchased it. I'm not disappointed, and can see why it's expensive as it's beautifully made, superbly engineered, exceedingly robust, and very easy to clean. No need to peel garlic cloves, just put them in there and this press will crush them without much effort. The garlic comes out like a very fine mince rather than a paste. After a year of good use, this garlic press is as good as new, very pleased with it, and in my opinion well worth the cost, I'm certain, given the quality, it'll last forever! Highly recommended, if you love garlic, you won't be disappointed!

Bought as a gift for someone who threw down the gauntlet by saying "find me a decent garlic press please, in all my life, I have never had one that works properly" (he is 56, so quite a challenge). I did my research (looked on Amazon) and read all the reviews, and plumped for this brilliantly engineered beauty. It is fantastic, you really don't need to peel the cloves and the mechanism is so clever and sturdy and easy to clean. Nothing escaped from the press (unlike my own garlic press) and there is very little waste. Yes, it is expensive, but I am confident that it will last a long time and might be at risk of being stolen.......!

I cannot deny that this is an amazing piece of German engineering however I am slighly disappointed with the result. I had purchased this since it had received such amazing reviews but the final result was courser crushed garlic and there was also a tendency for slivers of garlic to be extruded from each side of the perforated plate and sliding up the side wall. This is caused by the perforating plate not being wide enough - without using a micrometer I can see about 0.5mm daylight between the edge of the perforating plate and each side of the sidewalls. My original garlic press was purchased at an Ikea store for £2.25 (IKEA KONCIS Garlic Press Stainless Steel) and although slightly harder to load a garlic bulb (no need to peel) the end result was a much finer paste due to slightly smaller and more closely spaced holes than the WMF. Also the fact that the garlic bulb is in a enclosed removable chamber resulted in just paste without any slivers. Having this removable chamber made the Ikea press very easy to clean. After using both I will returning to my Ikea as my main press and I would suggest anyone contemplating purchasing the WMF to try the Ikea one first.

Die WMF Profi Plus Knoblauchpresse macht direkt einen sehr soliden und hochwertigen Eindruck und ist deutlich massiver als andere Pressen, die ich bisher kannte. Das Edelstahlmaterial wirkt stabil, die Presse liegt gut in der Hand und ist spülmaschinengeeignet, was für mich ein Muss ist. Leider ist das Produkt recht globig und schwer, wodurch die Handhabung zunächst ungewohnt sein kann – aber dafür gibt es kein loses Ausdrück-Teil, das irgendwann verloren gehen könnte, alles ist stabil in einem Stück. Die Knoblauchzehe muss manchmal etwas kleiner geschnitten werden, weil die Presse nicht die allergrößte Kammer hat. Der Preis ist natürlich hoch, aber dafür bekommt man auch Langlebigkeit und zuverlässige Funktion. Insgesamt ein zuverlässiges Werkzeug für alle, die regelmäßig Knoblauch pressen wollen und auf Wertigkeit achten.

Pratico, robusto, facile da pulire, impugnatura ottima per la spremitura. Consigliatissimo. Un prodotto che soddisfa pienamente.

Très facile à utiliser , beau et inox de très belle qualité , nettoyage hyper facile tout se soulève ; j'aurai voulu des trous plus gros pour moins écraser le produit et sur les photos il est très difficile d'évaluer la taille des trous . Le prix est justifié et je m'en sers tous les jours car nous sommes de gros consommateurs . A recommander même si on a peu de force dans les mains comme moi , ça marche. N'hésitez pas . Après plusieurs mois d'utilisation , je peux dire qu'il est exceptionnel et sera certainement le dernier que j'aurai acheté car en usage quotidien , parait indestructible et reste très beau .
