do you use this kit to weld vinyl or prepare the vinyl for welding

The handle and blade is for cutting grooves into the vinyl for jointing, and a hot air welding gun is used to heat both the groove and a flexible welding rod which is pressed into the groove. The top of the installed welding rod is cut off flush with the surface with the knife and guide. This method can only be used for thicker vinyl, and cannot be used with Cushion Vinyl which needs to be glued together. I am currently installing Cushion vinyl in my kitchen, where joints are only under fittings - a hot glue stick gun is being used to join the materials - not very elegant, but effective, and not seen.

Just what I need in preparation for welding vinyl flooring. I have been developing miniature bathrooms over the last 40 years, because of the need to fit them into very tight spaces when refurbishing houses. Waterproofing is always a problem, particularly with tiles; I now use sheet vinyl for floors and walls, and never have a leak. These tools give the finishing touch.
