Wavlink USB C to Ethernet Adapter 2.5 Gbps, USB to RJ45 Converter

Very plug and play applicable with good bandwidth. Heat is low as I noticed.

This adapter was wonderful. I was able to use my laptop and complete my paperwork.

I plan to buy one more of these after seeing the results to get the other wired PC in the house up to a 2.5 connection. These work just as good as my desktop with a PCIE 10GB adapter (connected at 2.5Gb at the router as well). I have a 1Gb fiber plan, and these results are the same as on my desktop and tend to hit around 1200/1200 consistently. I just installed one on my media server/Hyper-V tinkering machine that is on 24/7 so that will be another good test of reliability and true throughput. I just used the USB-A connector (the ports are USB 3 on the machine) and no issues, there is a single USB-C but I wanted to keep it opened for future use. I have had another one on a mini-PC that I use for working from the house, no connection drops even being on it for hours. Do I really need 2.5Gb? I mean, probably not, but also because I can, and why not? The router I have will do it and I also like knowing I'm really getting my full potential out of my current fiber internet plan, and gives me room to grow later if I decide to and it isn't breaking the bank to do it. I did what someone else in the reviews suggested and grabbed the Realtek USB FE / GBE / 2.5G / 5G Ethernet Family Controller Software driver and installed it before connecting the adapter. Seems like that was the right call using this driver and thanks for mentioning it. I guess I will see how these hold up, they seem well build and it is nice they can use both USB-A and USB-C with the adapter that is attached to it. I have had some load put on the one I already have and it felt like it won't have any overheating issues. Update 4-19-25: Everything is still going good, I have started running Linux again lately and backing away from Windows where I can. I'm currently running the latest Linux Mint with a couple of these and they required nothing extra and just worked right from the start.

Thumbs up to the review section for how to actually get the correct driver from Realtek. The direction you get from Wavlink on how to get the driver update isn't right (well it's right but it doesn't update the driver to get symetrical speeds for me that was the situation). I was having the issues where I would only get 2.5gb download and 1gb upload. After researching and reading through the reviews on here there was one review that actually tells you how to search up the correct driver update. I now have 2.5 down and 2.5 up. 4 stars only becuase I had trouble finding the driver update. Other then that it works perfectly fine. Plug and play pretty much.

Works great. Got this cause the dock I have my M3 Macbook Pro hooked up claims to have a 2.5G and it just doesn't work. So I got this thing to get my Mac hooked into the LAN at a true 2.5Gbe and it works fantastic. The ability to connect either USB A or USB C is useful and will let me use this on a number of different devices. Attached a screen shot below of my speed to my NAS. Which shouldn't be any indicator of how fast this thing goes but rather the rest of my network/drives. I have no doubt that this will hit the full 2.5Gbe in the right conditions.

This is built solid, has good specs and looks nice, but that's where the "pros" end. Does it connect at 2.5gb? It says so in Windows, sure - but when I do a speedtest, it shows a horrific number for my setup. I have a 2.5gb switch it's plugged into, and a 2.5gb router with 2gb fiber internet. From my desktop (with an internal NIC) I see 2gb up/down. This device is plugged into my son's laptop with a USB C 3.2 gen 1 port and it shows a ridiculously slow download number (barely 500mb) but then turns around and has ~1.5gb upload speed? We updated the drivers to no avail - it just doesn't work. I wish I had kept the box so I could return it but I'm outside the window on that one. He actually gets better numbers on WiFi! I'd say maybe it's an anomaly, but I bought another 2.5gb USB hub made by the same company and it too, doesn't work well at all. In fact, I had to return the first one because the ethernet didn't work on it either! The second one got similar results to this one, not good at all. I would shy away from this and look to a different brand entirely. You might pay a little more but it'll be worth it.

My internet provider had a great deal on 2Gbs service. My 500Mb promo speed was ending, so it was too good to pass up. Unfortunately, I didn't have any connections that could take advantage of the higher speed. Yes, it would be great headroom when multiple devices are going at the same time. But, no wired or wireless connection could use more than 1Mb by themselves. My desktop sits literally directly under the modem/router arrangement. And to be honest, I'm actually a fan of hardwired connections when possible, so slightly more than half of everything in my house runs hardwire. Enter this 2.5Gbs adapter. It uses a standard USB-C port, and comes with a USB-A adapter. Note: if you want higher speeds, make sure your port will support that. Not all of the older USB-A ports will. Using the adapter is quite literally plug and play. I connected the adapter to a USB-C high speed port, checked that it installed the most recent driver, and swapped the RJ-45 from the back of my PC to this adapter. Just like that, my internet speed doubled (1Gbs to 2). I have no doubt that if my ISP provided a higher speed, this device would work. At some point, all PC's will need to come with a higher speed Ethernet connection. Until then, this will work just fine.
