I must say I am glad to see much needed updates like announcers
I must say I am glad to see much needed updates like announcers, gameplay physics, and presentations but I am very disappointed with all the modes and options left out such as editing players, EASHL (adding little at a time with updates), and other game modes. Even with the updates this game will never be 100% so if you are on the fence about buying it then I recommend buying it for the 360 or waiting for NHL 16. Seems like they are dedicated to improving HUT, I am honestly not a big fan of it and would much rather see other tweaks such as EASHL related and options such as editing players and jersey numbers as I like to update the game myself since EA's roster and player updates are not frequent enough for the moderate hockey gamer. Overall I it a 3.5 rating with the minus being because the game is incomplete.

Great visuals and gameplay on new gen consoles.
Heard alot of bad things about NHL15.Have owned every NHL game going back many years and my 3 sons (who play NHL daily) all agree - it is a great version and worth it.A very good game on Xbox one and PS4. A huge gameplay and visual improvement.Where it falls short is if you are the type of player who liked many of the peripheral features and functions you have gotten used to over the years. They didn't include them in this version. But, the game play still rocks and going back to NHL14 is not possible after seeing how nice this game looks.Worth the money if you are an NHL game fan.Where I think EA really messed up was with the PS3 and XBox versions of this game...they basically rebadged NHL14 for those older consoles and called it NHL15 - no really, they did and people are really upset.

At launch, the game felt like it was definitely missing some nice features that were a staple of earlier editions.Through title updates, the game has come a long way since launch though as they are starting to roll many of those previously missing features into it.Had I reviewed it at launch, I might have given it three stars, as the graphics, gameplay, and physics engine are phenomenal and fun, but not having access to features that we had a year ago was a small step backwards.Currently, I'll give it these four stars. It is still the best hockey game out there, hands down. It is getting better, too. Who knows, perhaps someone will buy it within the next two months and their initial review may get five stars. It is headed in the right direction.

Too Glitchy to Pass as a Beta Test Version
BACKGROUND: I'm an avid NHL gamer, first joining the series with NHL 95 for SEGA Genesis and returning to EA after a brief stint playing NHL Faceoff in 1999 & 2000. I've owned EVERY NHL game since NHL 2001. I typically play offline, so I won't be reviewing any of the online functionality of the game.---Woah boy, is this game tough to like. Yes, the graphics are excellent and truly immersive. I love the crowd reactions (1000s of individual fan models, cool & unique signs, etc). However that's where it stops. The game is a shell of what the NHL series typically provides. There are plenty of missing features that online and offline gamers love that are simply absent (some of which, according to EA, will be patched in at a later date). These span from the small - the 3 Stars of the Game feature no longer exists - to the large - including no online team play, stripped down "Be A Pro" mode, and no ability to sim to your next shift in "Be A Pro" mode (which means you will have to sit through a FULL 60 minutes for each game you play in that mode). What is there has some promise. In GM Mode, for instance, 2014 draft picks such as Aaron Ekblad and Juho Lammikko (two of the Florida Panthers' first choices of this year's Draft) are in the game but unsigned. Neither player had an NHL contract as of shortly before launch, and it's reflected as such. But you, as GM, can sign them to entry level contracts and add them to your team. But it gets worse.About 6-7 games into my GM Mode career (as the Florida Panthers, as you might have guessed), a weird thing started happening. Randomly at different points in the game, the "BREAKAWAY" overlay would pop up during gameplay and would not go away (this feature, which DOES have its uses, is normally accessed by pressing a direction on the D-Pad and disappears after a few seconds of not changing anything). Now, typically having something stay on the screen isn't the end of the world but simply inconvenient. But not in this case. What happens here is that the overlay being up means that you cannot use certain buttons for anything but changing things in the submenu, specifically the button for poke checking. In addition, and for reasons I have no idea how to explain, the "Y" and "A" buttons are also not usable when this menu is up. That eliminates being able to pin an opponent against the boards (or pick a fight) OR lift their stick. So basically this glitch eliminates your ability to play defense. And, once it started happening, it's continued in EVERY game I've played in GM Mode, typically in the first period. So, when I do play, I'm essentially not able to defend an opponent for 70-90% of the game.Recently, I played a game where I was down a goal with under a minute to play. In video games, I typically wait until the last 20 seconds to pull the goalie (because the computer is usually really accurate on shooting from a distance on an empty net), so when I turned the puck over in the offensive zone with about 45 seconds left - WITH the previously-mentioned glitch keeping me from poke checking the puck away - I was surprised to see that the computer scored on an empty net. As it turns out, the computer pulled my goalie for me DESPITE the fact that ALL management and coaching options are set to MANUAL control in the settings menu.At first, I thought maybe I accidentally hit the button combination to pull the goalie. But then that idea was thrown out when the computer PULLED MY GOALIE AGAIN shortly after the next faceoff (and, yes, I found out when I gave up yet another empty net goal).I've spoken to EA and they say that they've brought these glitches to the attention of their programmers. I've been waiting since February to play an NHL game (my previous-generation console broke early this year, so playing my copy of NHL 14 hasn't been an option. But until they fix the MAJOR issues with NHL 15, the game is absolutely unplayable. As of right now, the $30 I spent for EA Access (which I purchased primarily to play NHL early as well as to get the previous-year's FIFA) and $59+ for this game has been spent simply to look at a box on the shelf.

Great Game
I have read some bad reviews about this game and I think they are all wrong. Of what I have read some of the game modes have been slightly changed from past years but as for the gameplay, it is by far the best of all the games and I have played almost all of them. The graphics are amazing, the skill moves they have added all are actually helpful during actual gameplay. If you are want this to play be a pro maybe you might be disappointed from what the other reviews say but if you play GM mode and online or just 1v1 you will be very happy.

NOT FOR THE WEAK GAMER
All these reviews I have been reading that are negative is quite garbage. If you allow the game to load to the hard drive then all the options are unlocked. This game DOES have all the old options, like ai control and user sliders to enhance your game play. You just need to take time to understand how to get to all the options and relearn new dekes, ect. I get tired of seeing all these weak gamers who can't learn new tricks or how to navigate the an updated version of a game.
