good quality cards; beautiful to look at

As a deck of cards, how could anyone complain? They are well-made and like every other good deck of cards as far as card stock and printing. The designs are nicely done, but the color scheme is subtle. The typically red suits--hearts and diamonds--are a reddish brown with gold highlights. Still easily discernable to me, but not as contrasty as traditional red against the black suits. Overall, a nicely done thematic deck of cards. Here's my gripe: I am a 60-year fan of The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and my mental images of the books come from my reading of them and Tolkien's original art. This card deck takes its inspiration more from the Peter Jackson movie than from the source material as far as the design. There's nothing wrong with that, and if your fandom with LOTR derives from the films, you'll likely love these cards. For me, I gave them four stars rather than five because of the slight disappointment that they don't reflect that old original art.

These cards are a work of art, plain and simple. Even for a non fan, the sheer amount of intricacy would probably be worth the purchase, but for a fan of the LOTR series, this deck is absolutely incredible! The attention to detail is stunning - when I first opened these, I probably spent 15 minutes or more just staring at the cards and finding all of the references. Theory 11 really packs a punch in their designs; they do fantastic work, and this deck is no exception. I also love the fact that these are manufactured by U.S. Playing Card Co. (the maker of Bicycle cards), so not only is the design great, but the quality is also top-notch as well. Nothing spoils a good-looking deck like poor quality cards, but that is definitely not the case here. If you are a fan of LOTR or just enjoy custom artwork on playing cards, these are definitely worth having - highly recommended!

I really enjoy these cards! the gold and details on each card is really beautiful. the cards are very easy to play with and soft... not too stiff or needed to be "broken in". my boyfriend loved them so much!

These cards are beautifully made. The package is raised and embossed with a lot of detail and some real love and care. The material is smooth and easy to draw. The cards themselves have some amazing artwork that was clearly done by someone who has a lot of love for the franchise. This is a perfect gift for any fan of the Lord of the Rings or just lovely and well-crafted playing cards.
