Amazing minimalist boots
I am not someone who ever thought I would buy 'combat boots' I am kind of a hippie and have been a devotee of minimalist shoes for a few years. I was however continually frustrated with the build quality of the already overpriced minimalist shoe market. The funny thing is that it was never the minimalist sole that broke down it was always the seam between the sole and the shoe, or the shoe fabric itself. I have also just moved to a more rural location and was in need of taller more rugged shoes for clearing brush on fields, and general yard work. I had perused the general 'minimalist boots' market for a while now looking for a more rugged minimalist shoe. I was always worried about durability of the usual companies who provide this sort of thing especially because their boot options had an even greater price premium, and were generally winterized (which I never need). Looking at brick and mortar stores for work boots also revealed a wasteland of overly heavy thick soles with a massive heal-rise. I ended up taking the plunge on these, and while they are the most expensive shoes I have ever bought, my first impression is that these are the most awesome things in the universe. I always wear 10.5 sized shoes and find that these fit perfectly. The build quality seems top notch. The comfort level for me on the first walkabout was amazing. Especially for a boot. I never liked any hiking boots as a kid, and eventually rebelled against the concept. I have climbed rocky mountains in sandals, and usually wear either very flat flip-flops or (because work requires it closed toed shoes) some version of vibram sole sneaker. These have redeemed boots in my eyes single-handedly. I will admit it does feel good to have some level of ankle support and foot protection after years of wearing essentially slippers year-round (once I did wear moccasin bedroom slippers for an entire winter). I can tuck my pants into these to give some tick protection, and the leather bottoms are heavy duty enough to provide, in my estimate, some minimal protection from blades and blunt trauma. Originally I was only planning to use these for yard-work, but upon trying them on I look forward to wearing them at my day job (which does involve being on my feet much of the day and sometimes physical exertion, climbing, and lifting heavy metal objects). I hope to update this review once I have broken them in and also once I know about long-term durability.

EEEEEEEEEE wide foot approved.
I have a very hard time finding shoes to fit my feet. I have a 10.5 length and a 15 width. These boots have been hiking, biking, walking, motorcycling and welding. They’re not waterproof, but they’re not supposed to be. I like the vents. Even in the winter- wool socks… The material is flexible enough let my feet expand in the shoe and out over the edge of the sole. Especially after getting them wet and wearing them while they dried. I truly need a EEEEEEEEEE (E10) width- and that’s just too hard to find. They broke in nicely. I’ve plasma cut, oxy-cut and welded all processes in them. They only have little burns, handled the sparks, flames, and slag like a pro. Good tread, good fit, and no tall heel. I really only wear minimalist shoes and boots, these felt great in that respect. While the fit is good, there is an issue with the heel, where the cordura meets the sole. I use one thin strip of moleskin, 1/2" wide, run vertically- just long enough to cover the area, maybe 3 inches tall- and it works perfectly. I pre-cut two more strips to have on hand, but they really don’t need replacement often, maybe twice a year. The back up strips just hang out in my bag. Felt like my army boots without the clunky heel and far lighter, to boot (pun intended). Will buy again. May these never go out of production!

Excellent hunting boot. Needs refinement around heel area.
In the never-ending battle for management of body heat, stealth and keeping dry while hunting I decided to give these a try due to the low-profile heel and sole construction. I hunt from the ground. I'll never be found sitting in a tree or blind. Stealth is a top priority. Being able to interact with the ground through feel will greatly improve one's ability to remain silent and undetected. For example, if you are keeping your eyes on the herd of elk, moving when only their eyes are not upon you; feeling the stick through the sole of your boots before committing your body weight onto it will prevent you from breaking said stick thus disclosing your location. These boots do this quite well, while having more traction than a crepe-soled boot. This boot also offers a large amount of ankle support, and flex. All checks in the right boxes for traversing uneven ground. This is all offered in a true-to-size and lightweight product. However, there is one major drawback in my experience. When properly tightly laced, due to the layered construction of the back of the boot; these boots would constantly pinch the back of my heel quite painfully. This is obviously less than ideal in a boot when it is not uncommon to cover 10+ miles across uneven terrain on a back country archery elk hunt. I would assume an extra pair of socks would alleviate this issue, but would take away from the ability to interact with the forest floor. I suppose a lacing them up less tight could also help; yet again taking away from the ankle support many non "road-hunters" desire. Overall, I would recommend these boots to anyone looking for a quiet and supportive ground hunting boot. Just make sure you also purchase some moleskin for the back of the lower leg, just above the ankle. For the price, I would expect there to be some drawbacks. A quality hunting boot with this much going for it could easily be found for twice the price.

Good boots
Excellent boots that feel like moccasins once broken in but they can be rough on the side of the ankles until broken in to your feet. You may want to buy some padded bandaids to use on your ankles until the boots are worn long enough to form to your feet.

They feel like gloves on the feet, not sure what people are talking about breaking in, they are comfy right away. They are light and seem to regulate foot temperature well (again too early to tell). The build quality seems there but we shall see. Will update in 6 months. Only point is the laces would use lace sleeve at the top of the boot tongue.
