I am asumingyour lorry tank and wheels are chrome? but it polishes all metals very well so I would say yes.

will it get black mould of steel shower plug hole?

If the plug hole is stainless steel then I would have thought that black mould would not be able to stick to it. That said I would use the paste version of Solvol, unless the black isn't mould it should do the trick.

Would this work on a chrome letterbox? It's become pitted with dirt.

If it is pitted, I doubt it. It can only polish the unpitted metal. So it will depend on how badly it is pitted.
