An inspiration for anyone interested in art, design, cookery, plants or botany, or those who just love pattern. I recommend acquiring Owen Jones' The Grammar of Ornament at the same time, as an enriching and indispensible accompaniment to this beautifully designed book.

Great looking book, comprehensive number of spices but NO pictures of the spices at all. To know what the book describes one has to sit with an iPad so that an image of the actual spice can be brought up and looked at. Very disappointing and incomprehensible that the authors and publishers should go to so much research and then omit any photographs or even illustrations of the spices themselves. Bizarre.

A beautiful made book, just right for dipping in and out of, plenty of interesting facts.
