Great quality, great price.
The quality is better than good, much to my surprise. The dovetails are accurately cut, everything aligned perfectly upon assembly. Speaking of assembly, this kit obviously requires a bit of it, so don't think it's gonna l going to be plug and play. You'll need wood glue, a drill/driver and a hammer (small ball peen works best for the small brad nails). All the wood is thoroughly coated in beeswax. This hive is manufactured well. Three grain on the wood gives a very nice appearance. There is no chemical smell typically associated with products from this part of the earth. In fact, quite the contrary, the smell from the wood and the wax is most prevalent. The wood for the body of the hive is 3/4" thick board, so it's quite substantial. I would recommend using some higher quality screws for assembly of the hive, as the provided screws are a bit short for my liking. Let's see how it does with some bees in it.

Awesome Bee Hive
Awesome product. Was easy to assemble the boxes and the frames. It’s sturdy and the boxes are well waxed should repel rain and water as it should. I ended up adding beeswax to the frames. The cedar wood is nice and solid. I added the MayBee stand as well to keep it stable in the wind and off the ground. I’ll be purchasing another.

Assembly was phenomenal
I purchased this as I prepare for next years honey bee acquisition! I am absolutely in love with this hive!! I had previously had spinal surgery. So I have about a 20 lb lift. But this was so amazing and simple. I did need a screw driver , hammer, wood glue and a carpenters square. These are so nicely waxed, the parts were tight fitting at dove tails. It went together easily. I did use wood glue on the internal frames. Nailed them in each corner. I’d highly recommend this hive to anyone who is new to bees like myself. The value of the hive itself is absolutely wonderful in this economy. This hive is all inclusive. Even the door adjuster.. I’m in love with it. Beautiful solid built for durability. Pre drilled for easy assembly. I will be purchasing a second hive. Do not be intimidated by the build. It was so easy. I called this my jinga box .. so many pieces I was intimidated at first. I built the bee boxes first. Then took my time adding the assembled frames. It took me just a little over 4 hours. But if you’re healthy and strong with a good stand and lift ability. It would probably be a lot less. I highly recommend this product. I just can’t say enough good about it.

Good materials, cuts are precise, easy to assemble. Poor lid design.
Really liked the wood, the wax, the solid construction, the predrilled screw holes, the extra screws and nails so there was not stress about coming up short. Workmanship was very good. The pieces fit together very well. We ordered two hives. Between them only one small piece arrived broken and we were able to glue and nail it back together. There is only one issue - the inner cover doesn't have a narrow slot cut in it for ventilation and for hot air to escape. Other reviewers have noted that so it wasn't a surprise. We would (and will) buy again.

Impressive quality and value
Very well manufactured and relatively simple to assemble. The holes were pre- drilled on dovetail joints for a secure screwed finish. I really like the smell and feel of the wax coating. That should hold up on our rain. The frames were coated in wax. Excellent! Assembling the frames was the most time consuming part of the project, but after assembling a few of them you develop a rhythm and by the end of them you're a frame assembly machine. I can't wait to introduce the ladies to their new home tomorrow!

Well made, good quality!
Very happy with this product. Solid wood everywhere, no OSB. Screw holes predrilled on boxes, frames fit together well. Comes with screws however we opted to buy stainless screws as it appears these hives are going to last a long time. Frames need assembling, not a big deal but a bit tedious as there are 40 of them, we have a 2" brad nail gun which makes this a LOT easier, went stainless on the nails also. The boxes are fully waxed, no skimping there. This seems much preferable to painting raw wood, no paint needed! Bottom and top pre assembled. I think this hive is a great value for the money!

Product as advertised and great customer service.
First time beekeeper. My hive arrived quickly and looked great, easy to assemble. I did have a broken part and it was replaced very quickly after reporting. I can't wait to get started.

Great value! Take your time with the assembly.
This hive kit is a great value. While the boxes require assembly, it went very quickly. The frames take a little longer, but I typically buy them unassembled anyway. The hive also comes with most everything else you will need to get started, with the exception of a feeder and a stand. All for under $200. I paid a lot more for my painted pine hive that I piecemealed together. A few notes about assembly. The included screws are not exterior grade. Go to Home Depot and buy 1.5” X #8 or 1.75” x #8 Everbuilt brand exterior screws. They are the right color and the screw head is the same size as the pre-drilled holes. Don’t use deck screws (head too wide and you risk splitting the wood). These screws also have a star pattern instead of a Phillips head and are less prone to stripping. While I used an impact driver, go slow putting them in. Stop when you get close to the end and don’t overdo it. You could use a hand torx driver to be safe. You especially risk splitting the wood on the corners. This happened to me a couple times and if it happens to you I recommend that you fill any such splits with wood glue. Also, inspect the joints for any hard knots. I had a corner bust off because of a knot and had to drill a pilot hole to get the screw in. The nice thing about wood is it’s forgiving and repairable (I glued the sliver back in place). As for the frames, I highly recommend that you buy a frame jig. It will save you a lot of time and pay for itself if you plan to stay with this hobby. Instead of the included brad nails, use a pneumatic narrow crown stapler (1” or 1 1/4” long staples). Use Titebond III glue, which is exterior rated and has a longer set up time. Make sure you put the glue primarily on the long grain edges of the frame joints, as that’s a stronger bond than the end grain that will just suck up the glue. Then the plastic honeycomb grids will just pop into place.
