It REALLY Works!
We were getting dozens of telemarting calls everyday. This stops them by sending a disconnect signal to tell their computer phone dialing system your number is not there. They go on to the next one! You hook it up inline on a regular phone, or VOIP, and it makes a "signal" every time someone calls. It also makes the same "signal" when you pick up the phone. That can catch you by surprise. Sometimes, friends call and ask whaat the noise was but that is all it sounds like. I just got a call as I was reviewing this...the telemarketers call, they get the tone and hang up! No more wasted time with them. Even if you pick by accident, you still get the "signal" so if you thought it was someone else their computer will disconnect instead of putting you through to a rep b/c it heard the tone first! Very good product. Ours had a dead batttery, no big deal just went to Wal Mart.Get them before they run out! We do debt settlement and short sales and could not live without this!!! The banks just drive you nuts!! If you would like to hear what it sounds like dial 469-424-2066 and check it. If you need a short sale or debt settlement your dialing the right number anyway! Thanks!

TeleZapper TZ900
Mine doesn't work. Followed the directions, let it run for 18 months or so, no luck. Finally changed my phone number. New number was fine for 6 months then the dunning calls for "Kevin" began again. Follow up: Ah Ha! I installed a new battery (CR2032) and now it's sending its three audible tones. So, if you buy this, buy a fresh battery too! Update: Works Great! No more dunning phone calls for people I don't know! However, to tie it all together, I've also stopped answering my phone. I just respond to voice mail. No telemarketing or dunning calls for a month now! Hooray!

The product is nice, if you ever get it.
The TeleZapper works (I think) but the acquisition was a nightmare. I ordered it and received a confirming e-mail that indicated I ordered it and it was being shipped. The e-mail also had a suspected delivery date that turned out to be an absolute fabrication. I tried tracing the package and it just seemed to drop off the edge of the world. I ultimately received the device about a month later so I really can't tell you how well it works since it just recently was installed. It does not seem to work on political calls but, being political, these calls are probably being made by entities that have not called twice in the last 2 or 3 weeks and the device has not had an opportunity to scratch me from their database.

A must-have in my household
I have just reordered this product, which my history shows I first bought in 2002! Yes, this thing actually worked for over ten years, only succumbing now to my dog attacking it as a chew toy. I briefly considered not replacing it, but then came to my senses! When I originally purchased this, it was in desperation: I was getting at least 25 nuisance calls a day and often many more. Plugged this gadget in, and after a week the call volume dropped in half. After a month, it was down to a couple a day. I then set the switch in the back to "advanced" at that point and let it continue to do its thing. It doesn't stop 100% of the calls, but if you are really going nuts from the ringing phone, then it will work well enough to get your sanity back.

I LOVE this thing!!
Works like a champ!! I'm having a lot of trouble with nonprofit groups calling to fundraise. Repeated calls to their membership offices yielded no relief and I hate to simply not give money to worthy causes in order to stop their dial-a-beggars. (I still will give money, but I had one group calling me eight times a day! Enough!!) What's worse is that a lot of these groups also raise money by selling the names and addresses of their donors to similar groups, so you really wind up getting a lot of calls. I got my TeleZapper for around $10, installed it four days ago, and believe me, it is already paying off. A dozen calls a day from the dreaded "toll free number" or "out of area" callers have now dwindled to nearly zero. I use caller ID with mine as well, so hopefully I'd be able to simply return a call from an organization I actually would want to speak to. I'm leaving off one star because my Zapper is LOUD - when you pick up the phone it emits those three tones that are at the beginning of most phone company "we're sorry, you have reached a number that has been disconnected" recordings, and if you're not careful to wait a second or two before putting it to your ear it'll blow your mind. There may be some way to turn it down, though. It'd be swell if you could simply press a switch to make it do its thing instead of having to listen to the tones on every call, but it's a small price to pay for freedom from incessant 800-number calls. I'll tell you this - I'll not be without one of these gizmos again. I couldn't find any other workable options - my phone company won't allow customers to block calls on an individual basis. Now I can read a book or watch a program without being interrupted by fundraisers. Thanks Telezapper! Let me know when you guys develop a program that'll get me off the mailing lists of all the solicitors, too...:)

Not worth it.
This item arrived in a well-worn package that looked like it had been opened and re-sealed many times since the seventies... The battery was dead, so the first thing I had to do was replace it. Once connected, it does in fact produce very convincing tones, but the device only works if the line is picked up. This would be fine if call blockers held the line open long enough for the device to emit the tones, bit I don't believe they do. Plus you get the tones on wanted calls, and every outgoing call. Not worth the money and hassle. Invest instead in a call blocking device.

TeleZapper Works
Many years ago, when my wife and I did not have caller ID, we often answered the phone to find a telemarketer on the other end. We bought a home phone (and answering machine combo) that had the TeleZapper built in. From what I remember, it did amazingly well at cutting out the number of nuisance phone calls we received. But, eventually, we replaced our phones with a 2.4 ghz phone system for the convenience of having 4 receivers to place throughout the house and for improved reception. We also had caller ID by then and thought the Telezapper was unnecessary. We just wouldn't answer the phone if the number was 'Unknown' or 'Private'. However, over a month ago, we realized we were getting a ridiculous number of nuisance phone calls again. We would literally get a dozen or more calls a day, on most days, that were 'Unknown' or 'Private'. So, we bought this telezapper which was easy to connect between the wall jack and the phone and it has worked very well. It's been plugged in for one month (as of yesterday) and we get almost no calls now that are 'Unknown' or 'Private'. I would definitely recommend this product for two reasons. It will definitely decrease the number of annoying calls you receive but, because it's not 'built-in' (to a phone), you can change it's location in your house, change your phones without losing your Telezapper, or you could even change your home and still have the Telezapper.

Doesn't live up to its reputation
I bought this model in April 2012 to replace a model TZ800B. I really do believe that telemarketers have gone way beyond what the Telezapper was originally designed to do. In all honesty, it did not stop that many calls. My cordless phone allows for Call Blocking and this is way more effective than the Telezapper. Today, I had to 'retire' my model TZ900. As it turns out, it somehow was causing problems with my digital telephone service. Audio would drop in and out during calls. I had my cable company replace the modem and this seemed to fix the audio problem. Then, I noticed that I no longer had Caller ID. Of course, the cable company tried to place the blame for the loss of Caller ID on the cordless phone. However, I had 2 extra cordless phone sets that I tried to use and Caller ID did not work on any of them. Finally, got the cable company to send out a technician to see what was going on. When he picked up the phone, he heard the three Telezapper beeps and asked what was causing the beeps. I told him it was a Telezapper. He asked me to disconnect the Telezapper. With the Telezapper no longer in the phone wiring, Caller ID worked as it always had. He could not fully explain to me why the Telezapper caused the Caller ID problem but he also suspected that it may have been the cause of the audio issue. Some may say "Who can trust the cable guy?" and I would agree except for the fact that Caller ID now works. I also noticed in the Product Details section on the Amazon site, that the manufacturer has discontinued both of these models. I also could not find Privacy Technologies on the web and a note says their internet site is for sale. So, I would not buy either of these products. Get a phone with a Call Blocker capability.
