Does this product eventually dry hard or remain flexible?

my application in place about 2 months has remained somewhat flexible. no, it's not a hard finish nor intended to be as i read it. it looks like a good product so far and will be what i expect it to be.

can I used it to cover cracks in the wall?

Yes but you must Stir it good with a hard puddy knife Once it’s soft it’s spreadable

Can this be sanded after it dries so the finished surface is smooth?

Yes it can be sanded but you will have to do a good deal of sanding if you add a lot of layers. I would recommend that a person would try to smooth it as much as possible before it dries.
