Can this be used for paces exams?

I would say no. They are a child’s toy. Construction means not easy to sterilise and in ear sound is not that clear.

Do they work? Will a young child be able to hear a heartbeat with these?

They do work although the ear pieces are a little large for tiny ears , to hear a clear heart beat they need to fit snug but they can still hear a faint heart beat

are the ear plugs softer for kids. as most are hard and hurt?

They’re not too hard but are a little large for their ears ( my daughter was 6 when I bought them)
