Q: Will an ar15 fit in this? i have been told it will not fit because of the pg.

I have an AR. It does fit, but I was using a 10 round magazine, the grip rests on the bar of the lead sled so the butt stock doesn't actually rest on the bottom of rear stock support. That being said, I wish I would have gone with the updated lead sled.

Q: Will it handle a 35 Whelen?

I used this rest to shoot bear loads in my 300 Remington Ultra Mag, with lead filled shot bags, my seven year old son could shoot it as well. That much recoil reduction. Not familiar with the recoil of a 35 Whelen, but a 300 RUM is tamed by the lead sled.

Q: Will it handle a .300 Winchester magnum?

Of course. Lay a couple of barbell weights flat on the tray.

Q: How does this compare with the Lead solo rest?

Even though the Lead Solo Rest comes with tie-down straps and may reduce recoil somewhat I still prefer the Lead Sled for normal everyday use. Both are very good at what they do and either will be beneficial and serve basically the same purpose..

Does the job.

This Sled is ok for sighting inPellet guns,22 rifles small bores. One dislike it only has three legs to balance the sled. I would have preferred 4 legs. The medal to make this is alright. It works pretty good,easy assembly about 30 mins. It does its job, I added the bag full of sand to place in the tray it's works very well then. Small bore sighting is best suited for this product. I do like it after adding the weight bagg.
