Partially, it's supply and demand. Partially, it's some sellers will low-ball the price for the sake of a sale. We charge as close to retail as possible to not only make a profit but also cover the roughly 15% that Amazon takes off the top. It's very common for Amazon to make more on commission than the sellers. We've found many sellers do not even account for margins and fees.

Q: Is the0.05 diameter wire the correct gauge for making hose clamps for my car

No. You better buy an actual hose clamp from the auto supply store. Especially if it’s under pressure. The wire will never hold anything under that kind of pressure.
