I’ve had IBS most of my life. These probiotics are my favorite brand. It balances out my gut, leading to less pain, softer and comfortable bowel movements. The price is reasonable. I’ve tried other brands and probiotic strains with worse results.

(I am not a medical doctor.) Fantastic product, works for more than just IBS, but has its pros and cons. PROs Miraculous results in under a week for many Tiny pill; can take with or without food Life goes back to normal Can help to eliminate the GI symptoms of mild (adult onset) Cystic Fibrosis Confirms that it isn't all in your head CONs Can cause constipation Symptoms return after you stop using it; it is not a cure Comments - This product is marketed as being for IBS. But, IBS is diagnosed by exclusion - meaning after other factors such as, parasitic infections, lactose intolerance, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, celiac disease, and cystic fibrosis have been ruled out. Between denial, procrastination, funds, lack of physician attention/listening, and a host of other factors, I'm not sure how many people actually make it that far. That said, we have found that this product completely eliminates the Cystic Fibrosis like symptoms in about 3 to 4 days. If you do not see results in 4 days, the manufacturer suggests up to 2 per day for adults. Taking one in the morning and another 12 hours later may help you to achieve better efficacy. In this case, you can start with two per day at first and see if you can drop down. We added high potency probiotics (like Renew Life Ultimate Flora Critical Care or New Chapter Probiotic) as a 3rd dose. In some cases, according to the leaflet in the package, it can take up to 30 days to work. Yes, 30 days. So, it's probably wise not to get discouraged if it takes your system a while. It is not a cure. If you stop taking it, symptoms return. So, if the problem can be resolved by other means, considering using it for some relief while these other solutions kick in. Several have reported constipation. As a suggestion, try taking Equalactin too. It is a non-habit forming water soluble fiber that rebalances your system to combat constipation without causing diarrhea. Unlike most products, it produces results overnight. Use this (with plenty of water and on an empty stomach) instead of a laxative for normal bile movements. Cured?! As an update, we inadvertently discovered that taking a prescribed antibiotic (free from the grocery store pharmacy) for 7 days along with New Chapter Probiotic seems to have eliminated the need to keep taking Digestive Advantage product for ever and ever. We do still take probotics (currently New Chapter Whole Food Probiotics or their Prenatal Whole Food vitamins which contain probiotics) and enzymes (we like Digest Gold) at times. Best we can figure is the whole food supplements have a more lasting effect that the isolated active ingredient in Digestive Advantage? No one thing works for everyone, but we hope that this helps someone.

I don't know the specific FODMAP family/families this helps with. And/or if itcs instead helping me due to it breaking down fats and oils somewhat. But anytime I eat a food I know or suspect to be problematic at all, I have one of these just before eating it. (Not more than twice per day.) These seem to help me more than other products. Here's what I can see about the enzymes in this. Unfortunately this isn't very detailed. - Protease Breaks up proteins (which ones; why does it help?) - Amylase Breaks starches (think rice and potatoes) into disaccharides and trisaccharides. - Lipase Helps break fats and oils into dietary lipids (triglycerides, and other fats/oils). Note that these do _not_ contain lactase, so I don't believe they help break down lactose (milk sugar). If you've also got gut issues you're figuring out, and this product also helps you, here's what else I've found for myself. In case it might help you, too. (Usual disclaimers: not a doctor, at your own risk, etc.) - Activated charcoal can help clear that low grade sick feeling that sits in your guts for days. Just take it in the middle of a 4-hour window (2 hours on each side) in which you don't eat any foods. Otherwise the activated charcoal absorbs that food instead of the stuff you're trying to clear out. I've found a 4 hour window with charcoal will help the next day; far more than what I used to get by not eating for 24 hours (which is bad for you). - Simethicone for gas/bloating. (Don't take too often.) - Pepto for overfull feeling. (Don't take too often.) - Lactase enzyme pills/tablets for dairy. Definitely recommend giving this product a try. Just remember it's best to take it immediately before eating the problematic food. This is _not_ a product for relief of symptoms after they happen. It's a pro-active/preventative measure. I keep a sheet of these in my jacket pocket for bringing to restaurants. If you don't feel/look self-conscious about it, you probably won't draw attention doing this (and so what if you do). Prioritize your lasting gut health over some short-lived feeling of weirdness about it. 🙂
