Hey there, D.A. According to the stickers on mine that were purchased a year or two ago, they are made in America. According to shinnfuamerica.com (who owns Hein-Werner), they are "Assembled in the US with US and Global components". I do know that they are a sturdy and decent jack stand. If you want 100% truly American made, go with US Jack. They have the only ones that I personally know of that are 100% US made. There may be others though.

No, they are assembled in USA. If you want 100 percent made in USA jack stands, they are available from US Jack and Weaver, possibly others. The US Jacks are available in 3 ton, 6 ton and 10 ton, RATED per jack stand, not per pair of jack stands. So, take that into consideration when you buy jack stands. Subterfuge and misinformation is common in advertising.

Will these stands work for a standard car as well as a SUV?

Yes they will work for a standard car as well as an SUV, however they may be too tall for standard car unless you already have a floor jack that is capable of lifting the car to they're height.

Is there any mechanism to prevent these stands from collapsing? Like a safety lock pin or something.

The mechanism is a one-way locking Pawl which only unlocks by lifting the support upward and turning the latch handle outward. It is completely reliable and I’ve use jackstands like this for years. I think you’ll be very pleased with the quality of the locking mechanism.
