Power? i see sas connector to connect the hd, i see sata connector to my controller - where/how do you supply power to the hard drive?

In the picture of this device the gold strips is where you connect the SATA power cable to the adapter which in turn powers the hard drive

Will this adapter cable work to use a sas hdd on a sata port on my gaming pc?

If your motherboard supports sas signaling then yes. Most motherboards don’t, unless your board is a server or workstation board. The cable is cheap enough. Try it. If it dosent work then you’ll need to buy a sas pcie card or raid card.
